I think I missed something. When we stayed at the Movies a lot of the room windows were decorated. What is the deal?

It's just something that some people enjoy doing. We usually print up different pictures to hang in our room windows, usually with each family members favorite character. This year we're going for Christmas and we'll be decorating the window with Christmas window clings and lights. We've got a small tree to have in the room and DW is bringing each of the kids stockings from home, partially filled. She will pick up small items leading up to Christmas to finish filling them. It really just depends on the personalities of the guests whether or not they decorate their window/door.

Since this is about resorts and not themeparks.. moving it there for the best answers:)

It just makes the space more 'yours' while you are there. At night all the room tend to look alike, or is that just me?

I love "coming home" to our room when we decorate our window! It personalizes it for us and becomes very much part of the trip.

What a great idea....do you think it would be okay if I took one strand of small white lights for my window? (too bad I don't have lime green lights) Would it be frowned on if I left them plugged in so when we got back at night we could easily find our room? I wouldn't want to bother any other guests (staying at ALL STARS).

Some of the windows you see are DISers getting fancy, but some of what you've seen is done by housekeeping...

correction, our daughter's toys that she brought from home and those that she purchased in the parks on the previous day come to life with Disney Magic when we're at Movies. We've found them in various hijinx around the room when we've returned for a day at the parks: AK monkeys hanging on the lamps, stuffed Mickey & Minnie (and the rest) propped on the pillows with th remote watching ToonDisney on TV, and her plastic Cinderella figurines all climbed into the window to see what was going on. One time, the critters got a little adventurous and tied the curtains in a knot.
