What is the deal with the BC Xmas Tree?

We were at the BCV last week and managed to tour a few of the resort decorations. We visited the BW, BC, YC, WL, GF, Riverside, and CR. A few years ago we stayed at the BC near Christmas and they had a beautiful tree that matched the decor. It was done in pastel balls and shells. It had a large mermaid on the top of the tree. This year it was bright RED! The tree was very nice, but we didn't think it matched anything at the hotel. The BCV and YC trees were much better. They really went with their decor.

Anyone else disappointed with the BC tree?

I really didn't notice that the BC Christmas tree didn't go with the BC theming. I just loved being there and the tree seemed OK. However, now that you describe the way it was, I agree that that would have been much better. I wonder why they changed? BTW, did you enjoy the BCV? I loved them!

TerriBelle: I agree with you. We have stayed at the Beach Club every December since about '94. The first few years, the Christmas tree had the Little Mermaid at the top with a series of seashells from the top of the tree to the bottom. There was actually a small stream of water which dropped from shell to shell. The tree also had glasss bubble-like ormaments on it, very beautiful. They changed the tree about three years ago to the current tree with red ornaments. Each year we return for our December trip, we hope that maybe the BC will go back to the original tree. From your report, it seems the "red" tree is back again.

It is things like this that really make me wonder sometimes about Disney. They are usaually so up to speed on theming but to take a tree away that sooooo fit in with the theming of BC and replace it with a red tree makes no sense at all and is so out of character for Disney.

We did learn while looking at the GF tree that each tree last 5-6 years and the GF tree is being retired this year. We use to like the GF tree that had the different color poinsetta on it. Does anyone remember that tree?
