What is the deal with standing at parades and fireworks

Yeah, I think this new parade is just such a differet dynamic than the old one, hence the new standards for how you sit or don't sit to see it.

And Block Party Bash, which is now at DHS in WDW is different. That park has narrower streets than DCA did, and unlike the old parade at DHSl, there are areas where you cannot sit. So WDW (well DHS) is having this same thing come up as well.

I do think safety plays a role in the fireworks at DL as far as standing vs. sitting. That and the fact that Remember is hugely popular (moreso than WIshes) and the amount of people that crowd into the hub to see that show is like nothing I have seen at the MK for Wishes, even on New Years Eve.

Actually, you can't sit at Matterhorn/Pixie Hollow Pass. It seems they've been clearing that area out for the bikes and stilt walkers to wait so that they can join the end of the second show stop. The only viewing areas are at Small World Mall, the Hub, and the main portion of Main Street. I haven't seen it at Small World, but on Main Street, the bikes get super close to the curbs, hence the standing.

Well, I was not specific with which parade I was talking about but it looks like others here have some more specific advice regarding the current parade. I am happy to be brought up to speed! :goodvibes

We were lucky enough to watch the new fireworks last week and loved it. 2 nights we were right infront of the castle with a rope infront of us. Yes, we had some tension with rude people trying to crowd us out at the last minute, but security was very helpful to us. Luckily they were right there directing the foot traffic. It was alittle frightening how bold and rude some people were.
We did love the fireworks !
Tinker Bell and Dumbo flew 2 of the 3 nights.
Quite delightful ! ! !
Loved Dumbo ! ! Amazing !
Security said we had to stand due to the Fire Marshalls rules. Stating people sitting could get trampled easier and if need to vacate the area that standing would be faster and somewhat safer.

while in Disneyland this week I noticed the crowd being asked to stand. I too wondered why until I saw towards the end of the Celebrate Parade they had cast members on Bicycles etc... So yes safety.. Easier to see a standing child verses a sitting one.. and someone standing if need be can get out the way quicker. also keep in mind the earth quakes as of late...
