the reason why I'm asking is because we are supposed to leave on Monday and the trip was really planned for my mom, she's been depressed since my grandmother passed away unexpectedly in July.

My mom called this morning and said she will probably not go, because she is having too much pain in her feet and legs (she also has a pinched nerve in her back.) and her doctor says she needs to stay off her feet.

I REALLY wanted her to be able to go with us...

So I was thinking an ECV would help solve the staying off her feet problem!

and how hard is it to get one if we get there RIGHT when the PARKS open?

thanks for your help!

I think $35 a day.
But, you might consider renting offsite so that you can use the ecv outside of the parks.
Check out the DisABILITIES FAQs at the top of the page for more info!

Thanks
I did check out the FAQS sticky , but I wsnt sure if the price ws current.

I think we would only need it for the parks, since thats where we would do the MOST walking...

thanks again

I thought the current price for the ECVs in the park was $40 a day. you will do better to rent one off site, I am renting one from Walker Mobility for my Nov trip and it is $30.00 a day they deliver to your hotel and pick up after they are smaller and easier to use than those in the park.

Mickiethepooh,
if they are delivering it to your hotel, how are you getting it to the park?

Disney's current rental price for ECVs is $35.00 per day + a $5.00 refundable key deposit, total $40.00.

The off-site locations tend to be $30 per day or less, as well as discounts once you go over six days (such as $195 or $200 for a week and then the daily price goes down).

All the Disney buses are designed to handle two wheelchairs or ECVs. In addition, there is no problem related to the moinorails and almost all of the boats; only the smallest boats may have problems.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The next to top item is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs.

Well most people simply take the busses from the resort to the parks. But I always rent a van because I will have two scooters the one I fly down with which is mine and the rental for my husband.
The rentals will also come apart and fit in a regular car if you don't have too many people IN the car.
But as I say many ecv users at disney simply use the busses.

I check the park rental prices on the official Disney site about every other month. So, if it's not current, it's not out of date by very much, unless they changed it but have not updated it on their website.

DDT is I think $25 and new ones. www.scooterama.com was $25 a day. Someone on allears.net their neice works there, and there actually is one for $30 that you do not have to take apart to stowe it folds down easily.

I am going with them for upcoming trip. Generally I use Randy's mobility as they train you to charge, take apart, and running instructions. It is $180 A week and there is an Internet coupon for $10 off.

If it is not a no no to recommend, Search allears.net also for good price information too.

Hi!

I would highly recommend renting an ECV offsite. One of the reasons why I say this is because the walking from the car or bus to the rental area and the standing in line to rent could be too much in itself... and possibly could put your mom into more pain which could lead to a bad day even once she is able to get off of her feet.

While the walk from the car or bus does not seem like much to able bodied folk, take it from someone who knows... I would not make it... even with a handicapped pass card on my vehicle, the walk is still too far.

Also, if your mom wants to go to the pool, the food court or out to dinner, she is pretty much out of luck... and how far will the walk be from the bus or monorail to your room?

I will also 2nd the recommendation for Randy's mobility. I have used them in the past, before I started bringing my own scooter, and I carry their number with me, just in case...

I wish you luck!

We just returned home last night from WDW. As a first time ECV user, the ECV made things a lot easier for everyone. I rented from http://www.scootarama.com/. I am a big guy and their $25.00 per day, up to 300 lbs unit worked great. It was easy to take apart and light enough to lift into a car trunk. It was a Pride Revo, a very well made unit. Lasted a full day on a single charge. The Pride Revo is a smaller size unit that is very maneuverable and easy to drive.

Directly from Guest Services:

For your convenience, limited rentals are available for Guests with disabilities. Wheelchair and Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV) rentals are available for a fee of $10.00* for Wheelchairs and $35.00 ‡ for ECVs with a refundable deposit of $5.00. Quantities are limited and subject to availability. Also, ask for the Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities, and visit the Guest with Disabilities section of this site.

For Guests who require a wheelchair rental for multiple days, we offer a Length of Stay rental ticket where you make a one-time payment transaction for as many days of rental that you will need. Wheelchairs are available for $8.00* per day. Upon visiting a Theme Park, simply show your receipt at the stroller rental location and you will be expedited through the queue with little or no wait time.

We also use them every year for my Dad, I usually bring my own. I own a Pride Revo.I love it! Good size, easy to use..
This December for Mousefest because we are flying I am renting from Scootarama too. I am not comfortable with the airlines loading my scooter:scared1:
After using scootarama for the past 5 years I feel confident with them.
