What is the craziest DVC split time between resorts that you have one on one trip?

We had 360 incentive points to use before August 2008 when we signed up.

So when we booked we tried to maximize every last point and not let any go to waste.

We are doing 4 moves on our trip in July.

AKL Concierge 1BR for 1 night, AKL Concierge Studio for 8 nights, Contemporary Club Level for 2 nights and Contemporary Club Level (Tower MK view) for 1 night.

Seems crazy...but we got every point spent! I never thought it would be so hard to book them. Our CSM rocked! She helped us so much, was so patient, we had a lot of fun trying to figure out the best hotel/day/night combos.

Rob :)

We had incentive points...put them toward....1 bdr at BWV..preferred...then DCL WOnder...Deluxe Family stateroom and then a 1 bdr savannah view AKV...bye bye points

We just got off the phone with a DVC CM and they said that the whole incentive/developer's points thing got WAY out of control.

That is why they stopped offering them to DVC purchasers.

There is a seperate team that deals with booking for people using their incentive/developers points and they are so overwhelmed and behind with their processing that we haven't even gotten our confirmation email or our phone call from AKV conceirge for our amenities, etc.

We have our reservation/confirmation numbers, so she said that the booking is there, they just haven't gotten around to calling/emailing us yet.

Rob :)

I can believe that! We got 320 and they all went to the cruise...it appears its all paperwork...etc...just keep track of your points as well...just in case!

Interesting about the Developer's Points - we are going to lose our points, and I read a few other threads last night, where people are going to lose their Developer points too.

We switched ours to reservation points to use for our cruise, and then due to a series of family medical emergencies, that included our baby being in hospital last weekend for pneumonia, we cancelled our cruise. Since we are travelling at end of our June use year (only time we do this as I'm on maternity leave from teaching), this is what happened:

- lost 90 points for cancelling cruise (lost $75.00 fee)
- used 198 for Yacht Club concierge for 3 nights (had to pay another $95.00 fee to book)
- still have 117 points left to use only as reservation points by May 31/08 (will cost another $95.00 fee)

It's pretty impossible for us or other family to use points (hubby's family doesn't travel and mother in law just had several mini strokes, and my family is busy with taking care of ailing relatives), so we will probably lose 117 points.

200 of these were Developer's points - we so wish we would have taken the case incentive, but when we booked at 11 months out, we didn't know we were going to have a hellish year of emergenices to deal with. Also tried to deal with insurance, and relatives have to die in order to collect the cash equivalent of points, so that was a no go either.

Just want to warn others who are using their Developer's points as reservation points for cruise or Disney collection - once this is done, they can only be used in the same manner and cannot be used in DVC resorts or other trades.

Happy travels to us all, Tiger

Moving doesn't need to be "crazy". You just need to plan accordingly. Last time we moved we went from OKW to WL. DH, DS and Grampy went to MK to ride the mountains. I don't enjoy the mountains. So I went to WL, checked us in, went to MK shopping and met the boys for lunch.

This year we are going from OKW to AKV. We will check in and probably go to AK.

This year I have 2 - 2BR at OKW, on to 2 - 2 BR at AKV, then on to 2 - 2 BR at HHI.

I had always wondered about moving between resorts but thought it might really be a hassel. From another poster it sounds as if bell service will take care of moving your luggage from one resort to another if you want - is that correct?

Yep! The luggage fairies, as we call them (every CM we tell this to loves this name), are great and will magically move and have your luggage re-appear at your next resort. We've done it several times, and will do it again as our next trip in 6.5 weeks will see us at: SSR, AKV and YC - Concierge, over a span of 14 days.

Good luck, Tiger :)

How great!!!! I won't have to fret again about not having accomodations at one place. I love the name "luggage fairies too".:lmao:

One more thing: Make sure you tell them at check-in that you are going to need a luggage move, and then call Bell Services the night before and schedule that move so that you are assured of the luggage fairies arriving to your room in a timely manner.

Happy travels, Tiger :)

Not much into splitting!! We love crashing at one resort and spending the full week there. Different resorts for different trips.

in Dec 2006 we did our first night cash at Pop Century to save points (Saturday night stay and we arrived late in the day) then spent 5 nights at BWV and then a final night at AKL. it was awful. I was miserable switching resorts, waiting for rooms packing/unpacking. never again just to save points. In october we did 2 nights at BWV then 2 at AKV. we booked them last minute and were not able to get all 4 nights at the same resort (but it was OK at the time as we were excited to be able to see the new AKV). we got stuck in the --out by 11 but not in until 4 mess. when I am on vacation I want to drop my stuff in one spot and not move again until coming home.

1st DVC trip in Feb 06- 3 nights BWV, 1 night Bcv And 2 nights at VB

Feb 08 -- 4 nights at BWV, 1 night at AKV and 2 nights at VB

I will probably buy points at the Cont Villas and stay split stays with the BW and add a few nights to VB.

My mother lives in the Ft Lauderdale area so VB is half way between her house and Disney which makes it a nice to stay there for a few nights-especially after our Disney trip.

MY DH hate to switch, but I want to try all the resorts. I'm glad I got to experience the AKV as my DD and DH loved it. We also tried the BCV as I wanted to add on points there, but decided that I really liked VB and BW better.

Interesting to read about everyones split stay experiences... I was wondering - Rather than pack a separate bag, does anyone just do laundry on their last day of their "first" resort and re-wear the same clean clothes when they get to their next resort? I'm trying to figure out the logistics of our first split stay. :laundy:

If we split, it's usually because a cruise is in the middle otherwise we just pick one and stay. We just picked new ones each time so we got to try them all. Looking forward to another split though- VB 4 nights, Wonder 4 nights, OKW 3 nights....all happing this June
