What is the big deal about dinner at 'Ohana?

We ate there once back in 2007 for our first family visit. We had trouble getting an ADR during normal dinner hours because I waited to call until just 2 months out or so, so we got a 9:30 p.m. reservation.

I don't know if it's because we were eating so late or what, but our food was awful. The meat was all dried out and tasted like lighter fluid.

We haven't been back since. I might be willing to try it again at an earlier dining time, but my DW and DS are dead-set against going back again.

My husband still talks about Ohana dinner form last year's trip. The food was AWESOME! It was the one ADR he requested for this trip.

Ohana is a MUST do for every trip. I love it there. Some meals were better than others but all in all i wouldnt miss it on a wdw visit. I love the sticky wings, the salad, the noodles, the chocolate milk, the meats with the peanut dipping sauce, and then the yummy dessert. It's a lot of food so go very hungry. Dont miss out, go there!

I dream about the dumplings. that is enough for me to go back again and again.

We have had some instances of bad service but overall our experiences there have been very pleasurable.

One of my faves! Never felt like I was being rushed or having food thrown at us, but there is so much food they bring and the wait staff have several tables to bring it to so maybe thats why yours sis felt food was being thrown at her?

Love the atmosphere, love the food! Its relaxing, fun and reminds me of my trip to the islands!

Its the best use of a table service credit. Quality & quantity of food, excellent bread pudding for dessert, entertainment for the kids.
Its a nice spaced out meal which takes about 1 1/2 hours and lots of food so come hungry.
We went twice during our stay two weeks ago. Also tried Kona for the first time which was good, very delicious desserts.

We ate dinner there due to the raves on these boards. We were very disappointed. The meats were tough, dry and of questionable quality. The rest of the meal was not much better. Service was only so so. Entertainment was unbelievable bad and loud to boot.

We've never gone back and won't.

We have enjoyed the Lilo and Stitch breakfast on several occasions, but that's it.

It's like others have said... Everyone has an opinion, but Ohanas is our FAVORITE! We got to sit next to the window with a view of the castle for starters! The food was absolutely wonderful. We had no complaints about any of it. The bread pudding is heaven, so be sure to save room.

I'm saying I don't like so much just the way they service the dinner is not to my liking. I like my main course to be served all at once not wait for them to bring the meat/fish around when you have already eaten the other side portions of the meal. If you wait then everything gets cold which I surly HATE. Breakfast was great even I like my food hotter then it was served. Food was good but method of serving was terrible IMHO.

We have eaten here 3 times, once for breakfast, service poor, food OK. Twice for dinner both times service poor, starters good, meat very dry. I will admit I'm not a big meat eater. My DH is and he was not impressed. This restaurant seem to have a problem with it servers. I understand it a very popular restaurant and servers run their legs off, but I would like to know they know were there and I don't have to keep asking another server to find my server.

I agree with you on this restaurant. Yet know it quite popular and lots of visitors love it and can't wait to return. I would never tell anyone not to go and experience Ohana's, but don't think we will be returning for dinner any time soon.

This is one of the most overrated places at WDW

The food quality is not exception as compared to alot of other locations...it's very spotty here.

And the servers seem to be "long in the tooth" vets of WDW who are raking it in and want to continue to push you in and out like cattle so the tips keep sliding their way.

So i'm not likely to hurry back soon. Not when i've gotten better food at Kona (especially seafood) everytime.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree that they seem to have a group of servers here, who despite being horrible, continue to stay on at this restaurant.

Also, they make their meals so long - over 2 hours for breakfast, so I think they assume that guests are busy with characters and waiting, and don't notice when their server disappears. Same with dinner - they bring you these grossly oversized and wasteful portions of food, that will keep guests busy, and then server disappears. In both instances, you have servers continually disappearing, but many guests don't seem to mind, as they are waiting on characters, or filling up on meat and noodles.

Kona is far superior in all aspects to this restaurant, IMHO.

I agree. Kona is one of the very few Disney TS location I will pay for out of pocket.

I have never been. But I am so excited I made reservations for my husband and me on my birthday for dinner on December 20th. I have been waiting forever to try Ohana. I made the reservations myself and told DH, "Guess what? You're taking me to Ohana for my birthday!" Yay! Four months to go.

We are mixed about O'hana as well. We love the food, esp the dumplings and the dessert is amazing! But i do agree that the meal can feel very rushed, and we have not had very good service here.

We've been to both BF and D and liked them both. It wasn't my favorite restaurant for either, but we are going back to dinner in November--mostly b/c my daughter loved their salad so much. :thumbsup2
