What is the best way to book your cruise?

I would say to book it through DCL on the phone, so you will know which room you will be getting, and you can object to any room you do not want yourself. Then you can transfer the reservation to a TA.

Sounds like good advice to me. Its how we did it, but not really on purpose. Made reservations and even deposit through DCL then transferred them to Dreams Unlimited. It was real easy and Dreams Unlimited answers all my pesky little questions very quickly and excellently.

or book with DCL and then transfer to Dreams! That way you can get the rebate! I found that DU was very willing to answer ANY little question, and has made numerous adjustments and changes to my various reservations promptly, e-mailing me almost immediately on many occasions. I also found the two TA's I have worked with over the past few years VERY enthusiastic and seem to have my family's best interest at heart when planning outr trips. The itinerary given to me before the trips included all my excursions I had booked, plus some very helpful hints. For first time cruisers, this was invaluable to us, but of course so are these boards!

I also vote for the "do it yourself" through Disney Cruise Line and always, ALWAYS ask if there are any discounts available (just in case you don't know ahead of time through these Forums or other sources, like American Express has now with their Caribbean Magic and Parks and Ports).

I use different TA from DU and get a 7% rebate on the cost of the cruise (3rd Disney cruise). Once the TA takes over your reservation, only they can make any changes or provide information.

I did use the Disney air program the very first cruise, it was more expensive than doing it myself and I didn't like not knowing my arrangements until I received my documents a month prior to sailing. Many people like the air program because then Disney is responsible for getting you there.

I also use Disney transfers (there is only 3 of us that travel) and the bus was always ready after we arrived. The latest I ever got to the Port was 1:15PM. I've seen the Port very busy and also pretty empty. The boarding line moves quickly.

Also, in case you aren't aware of this, MOST of the major airlines are at the Port when you dock so your porter can take your luggage directly to the airline representative and you won't see your bags again til you arrive to your home airport - unless your bags decide to take a short trip without you ; )

Still too many days til my next cruise,
Rae
