to visit when the crowds will not be stifling but most of the attractions are open and not in refurb. Thanks everyone.

Ultimately if you go midweek in the middle of summer, about july 15 to August 15, you get long hours, max attractions open, full entertainement and the crowds are not aweful. With good time management and FP use you can get a lot done.

With more risk of attraction being down, the first week of December, and the week before and after Thanksgiving week can be ok, but a little shorter hours.

We try to go in the "off" seasons but have found, in the past 3-4 years, that there is no more "off" season.

We've been in February, May, September, October and November over the years. We had some slower moments, but there were times the wait times were upwards of 1-2 hours for rides like Splash or Indi.

It's been so crowded recently that we took a 2 year break (when we were annual passholders) away from Disneyland.

I'd suggest just choosing a time that is good for you and going for that date. Use fastpasses and take breaks during the day if it's too crowded. The only two times of the year I would avoid are 4th of July and the 2 weeks around Christmas.

Have fun!

I would say May or early June. For more info see:

Normally I would suggest this but for a couple reasons I didn't.

This year DCA is opening it's new entry and a new land, Carsland. When is not exactly known only that it's be open in the Summer according to Disney marketing. When CL opens it is sure to mean bigger crowds.

Some are also speculating that as part of preparing for this Summer's new attractions, that many other parts of the resorts will receive rehabs. It's always been common to do some rehabs during this period that have affected major attractions for a week or two to get them ready for a busy summer. The only thing now known is that Matterhorn will be down through the 14th of June, and GRR and SoC are getting pre Spring Break rehabs.

You may be right. Giving advice for timing based on CL and/or BVS is tricky. If someone is willing to risk refurbs then they are willing to risk it. So I will stick with my advice. But it could change based on how things develop. :)

We went late May in 2010 and it was perfect. The weather was great and most everything was open because they wanted it ready for the summer crowd and the kids were still in school in So CA.

Early/Mid-May was FANTASTIC in 2010. Sunday (Mother's Day) was a ghost-town all morning, then again after about 5 p.m. We even rode a few rides more than once without having to get off! There were a few refurbs going on though, so that was the trade-off, but not too bad. Just be careful of Grad Night early closures in late May :thumbsup2
