what is the best restaurant in Hollywood Studios?

Umm, can I vote for Hollywood Brown Derby, or leave the park to eat?!

Of those three, I'd choose 50's PT. At least the staff are entertaining and the milkshakes were pretty good.

As many have said DHS does not have the best restaurants. I suggest Sci Fi.
50s Primetime food is okay, nothing great. Mama Melrose imho, is not your everyday italian place. It is disgusting-they have nasty brown tomato sauce. We have given it a few tries over the years and finally said enough. We have also found the service and long waits even with adrs to be frustrating.
We actually dislike the sitdowns at DHS so much on our DHS night we either eat at our resort or get an early dinner at Boardwalk and take the boat over to DHS.

I vote mama Melrose's..It has gotten a bad rap for a long time, but in the recent past (we have gone 3 times in the last 2 years) it has been wonderful!! We will continue to go Back!

We LOVE 50's Prime Time. The food was very good, but the atmosphere/entertainment was fabulous! Definitely one of our most memorable restaurants.

I wouldnt suggest eating at any of the 3 you chose. We have experienced all the restaurants in "The World". As someone else posted, DHS doesnt have the best restaurants, however, we really like Hollywood Brown Derby. It is a signature restaurant though. The Derby has wonderful crabcakes and steaks. We always eat there when we go the Studios. Hope this helps and sorry you havent heard many positive comments on your picks. Our restaurant choices make or break our vacation. We're all about the food!!! Enjoy your vacation!!!!

Hiya, we've done all three and I wouldn't mind going back to any. My preference in order is Sci-Fi, Mama Melrose and finally 50s Prime Time.

I love Sci-Fi because for me, the whole experience was so unique. Good burgers, great shakes! Yumyum~

Mama Melrose has some good food but nothing we were like omg about!

And 50s Prime Time reminds me of Ed Debevic's which we have in Chicago...No amazing food, but another very cool experience if you don't have an Ed Debevic's in your area!

As many have said before...DHS doesn't have the best restaurants food-wise, sadly. If you can, pop over to a resort if what you're really wanting mouthwatering food! :)

we love mama melrose's chicken parm!!!

it's our first meal when we get off the plane!!

.... we didn't like 50's, and Sci Fi was just okay.

1) Leave the park - Beaches and Cream or one of the Boardwalk places are a short boat ride

2) 50's Prime Time - Good food, fun theme, slow, crowded waits as mentioned.

3) Sci-Fi - cute theme, roughly the same food as Beaches and Cream (burgers and shakes are what I recall anyway)

N/A) Mama's - haven't tried, not a fan of generic Italian to begin with.
N/A) Brown Derby - haven't tried for reason of the cost

out of those three i would say 50's would be my #1 choice - mostly because of the interaction with the staff. the food is very old home cooking type food so if you like that, you should like it there. (dh loves their meatloaf!)

sci-fi had been good 2 trips ago - and ranked as one of my favorite meals of that trip - but on our last trip the same food was subpar at best. great atmosphere though - especially if you like the old sci-fi type movies...

mama's we went to once and i became violently ill after eating there. we will never return. :( (they almost had to stop the bus on the way back to our hotel for me.)

it wasn't on your list but i would recommend brown derby for food quality if you can consider it. dh absolutely loves loves loves it there and i like it quite a bit as well (i tend to be more difficult to please.) :)

I have been to all three restaurants and had a good experience at all of them. I know I am the minority, but I would not hesitate in eating at any one of them again. I would suggest looking at the menus and choose the one that is most appealing. I would not say I had the best meal "ever", but the food and service was good. :)

Didn't care for Mama Melrose and won't return there. The food a Sci-Fi was fine, not great. The atmosphere is fun but we had a 2 1/2 wait after our adr time (the line to check in was over 30 minutes itself, it was total chaos there). It seems that was an unusual event so I might it give another chance.

Our favorite is Brown Derby. It is GREAT food and a really fun atmosphere.
We also really enjoyed Mama Melrose. I had the salmon and DH had the steak. Both were very good.

just ate at Mama's for the first time and it was my favorite. I loved the atmosphere and the service was great. I didn't enjoy Sci Fi at all. 50's Prime Time was fun, but Mama's was the best. I had the chicken with the pipette pasta. The rolls were good and the kids meals were great too.

Way back in the early 90s when we were young, dumb and poor and we were on our very first trip we could only afford one TS meal during our trip, I perused and pored over the UG and based on DH and my personalities (bit of a smart alek but sweet) and decided on 50sPTC. It was such a fun memory for us that I think it makes everything we have there taste delightful because we're not only enjoying a meal together but a memory. It's the only thing we make sure we do every time we go. PB&J Milkshake=yummo! One caveat that makes it better though...we book an 11 a.m. lunch. First seating, no waiting. Voila- instant magic.

Haven't tried the SciFi but it's on the ADR list this time for a late afternoon snack. Plan is to drop in for appeys and shakes and a break off of our feet. Looks fun but the menu just doesn't appeal so much as the atmosphere so it seemed a good choice.

Mama Melrose we did and it was meh. We booked it because we could get a Fantasmic Package but our ADR was late and we had to rush through the meal to get out of there in time to get to the show and I thought it was Olive Gardenish.

Hope that helps.

I had a similar thread going last week and many people said Mama Melrose wasn't good. Lots of votes for 50's Prime Time Cafe.
