What water mister is the best out there? Looking to pick something up for our upcoming trip. My wife and son have a tendency to overheat so I'd like to pick one that is recommended by those that have used them.

Looking online - I've come across " Misty Mate ". Any reviews?

We were just there June 4-13 and used the Misty Mate 3. It worked pretty well, is sleek and fit well in my backpack mesh section where I would typically place a water bottle.

Our family much preferred the small handheld fan I brought along. I bought it at Walmart before our trip and saw LOTS of people with the very same unit while on our trip. I saw some DARLING ones at the Disney Store yesterday with different characters on them that I would have bought for all of us if I had seen them before our trip. They look sort of like writing pens ie the body of them is thin and round. I would check those out.

Finally, we bought some Frogg Togg chilly pads, too, and used those with varying success.

Honestly, everything we used was a very temporary fix. Really, the only thing that truly cooled us down was being inside the air conditioned attractions/restaurants/stores. The MK was the best place because there is so much in and out in that Park. The heat bothered us the most at HS and WS in EPCOT.

If your children are stroller riders, I would defnitely get the very best stroller fan available -- maybe two! Those kids in strollers looked SOOOOOOO HOT.

Good luck and please, please, please don't stress or spend hours searching for the perfect "keep me cool" tool. I'm here to say that I did just that -- hours and hours on these boards, Amazon, and all over the web researching fans, misters, chilly pads, you name it! -- and, in the end, none of it really saved us like I would have hoped. The fans helped the most and being in AC like I mentioned.

+1 we have tried all the different types of misters and those scarves with jell crystals and the main problem with them all is they work by evaporation which is a problem when the humidity is close to 100% . we rely on hats with brims loose shirts with collars and sun screen. Shade also helps.

also drink drink drink, that's water not other tasty beverages

I don't know what you can buy off property, but we bought the fan/spray bottle/mister that they sell at the parks @ Disney. It's dark blue in color and has the characters (Mickey, etc.) pictures on it. It was $17 with tax. It is pretty good size and comes with a carry strap. It was a life saver for my girls.

You could use the fan alone, the spray alone, or make it mist by turning the fan on and using the spray at the same time. The hole you put water in is big enough to put ice in also so your water can be nice and cold, even in the parks after a while in the sun - you just ask for a cup of ice somewhere serving drinks.

We bought this as well. Shocked at the price, but they did keep them in ice so the water was nice and cool. The only problem was that it is a monstrous size. Because of that we only used it one day. Can't decide if it's worth packing this year or not.

I've used the Misty Mate Personal misters (you can google that or look at amazon.com). There are likely some off-brand ones that are the same size and do the same thing.

These are the best I've found if you want something small and portable and really light weight.

The BIG downside is that I've never had one last very long (brand name or not). The top tends to crack and then you can get the water pressure. I think it might be worth $6-7 for one but $15 - maybe not. Target actually had some knock-offs of the misty mate in their $1/$2.50 section - I think for $2.50. I bought one and then promptly stored it away and can't find it.

We've gotten the huge big blue bottle ones they sell at Disney and those things weigh a ton - IMHO - but they do keep you cool. The one we bought worked while we were at Disney but didn't last too long afterwards (the kids had it).

The best one is one that will not break, holds a lot of water, and has a lot of battery capacity.

Now which one fits the bill is another question entirely.

Same here. Shocked at the price, but well worth it. We made sure we filled it up at the cart we bought it from so we could fill it with cold icy water!

We take them everywhere: 6 flags, vacations, the pool. I even took it to school last year to cool off my K students.

Based on the subject line, I thought "personal mister" might be referring to a valet or masseuse or perhaps something else!

I guess I'd rather not have one that holds a lot of water - cause of the weight. The personal ones don't require batteries - so that is good too.

The "will not break" - I don't think they make that one yet!

we get the ones at walmart with a strap and they worked great if we added ice to them before leaving for the parks each day

We got some at the Dollar Spot at Target. They had a pump on the bottom and a strap and worked awesome!

When I read the title of this thread I had to do a re-take. I thought the OP was asking what is the best personal male escort (mister - Mr.) out there lol. I got a good chuckle when I realized what the OP was actually talking about.

Best personal male escort at Disney....now THATS a topic.

I had one of the big blue bottle ones that I bought at WDW years ago and loved. Last year I lost it in MK and when I went to Lost and Found they gave me a new one since mine hadn't turned up. It has foamie blades instead of the plastic blades the old ones had, and I don't think it works as well, so I'm looking for a different model. Is the Misty Mate a fan or just a mister? I can't tell from the pictures on their website.

We got these a few years back from local drug stores (cvs/ walgreens) but i also remember seeing them at walmart and staples. These are the best misting fans ever!! Yes they are small but they are also really light to carry with the clip on design (DBf will not carry a huge spray bottle).

Here's a pic of what we use:

We used the Target $2.50 pump misters on our recent trip. They worked great and we didn't have to worry about batteries.

we have a misty mate!! We have this one http://www.amazon.com/Misty-Mate-Deluxe-Personal-Cooler/dp/B00093IXX4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1308538465&sr=8-2

It was about $17 when I found it, (I waited till I saw it on sale) and it so SO nice.... it has a very fine mist, is in a 'cooler' type bag, and has a pump to pressurize the water which gives you the fine mist.... PLUS you can get replacement parts for it if you need to. We LOVE it and its SO worth the investment for us. It has a clip that I clip onto the sunshade of the stroller and then just turn it on to mist the kiddos, plus it has a nice wide mouth so its easy to get the water and ice in it :)

We have had ours for three years and have used it about 25+ times :)

I picked up one of these compact O2 Cool misting fans for each member of my family for our WDW trip coming up later this week. Found them at Dick's Sporting Goods for (if memory serves) $6 each.

We bought smaller fans/sprayers at Walmart, very similar to the ones Disney sells... only ours were smaller.

We got so many compliments on them and so many people with the bigger Disney fans said "Want to trade?" :) There were a lot of complaints about bigger meaning heavier.

I've also seen them at Walgreens. I don't think it's something you need to go crazy with looking for something super fancy.
