There is such a wide range of pricing for a week's stay and I'm curious to see what type of deals people have found, and how much research it took to find the deal. What time of year did you go? Were you happy with the accomdations?

For the past two years, I've rented a 3 bedroom townhouse in Windsor Hills. The prices are great (between $80-$125) per night and there is tons of space. It is EXTREMELY close to Disney - 10 minutes from your driveway to the closest space at Epcot - about 2 miles. We go back to the townhouse every day for lunch with plenty of time. It takes us less time to get back to the resort than many staying at Disney that have to take the buses/boats. The clubhouse is great and if you get a townhouse, each one has a small pool as well. You can rent anywhere from a 2 bedroom condo to a 6 bedroom house.

They have a website that represent all of the owners - windsorhillrents.com

I rent Mickeys World 1 and/or 2 - mickeysworld.net

Rented there 4 times and love it - owners are great. Way better than going to hotel.

This year we bought a 7-night stay in a 2-bedroom at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for $200 on Ebay.

It was very last-second, and a tremendous deal. $28.57 a night!

WoW! I would love to know who this was from. Feel free to PM me :goodvibes! We're going for a week Nov. 20th - 27th and would love that deal!

I have to agree about Windsor Hills! We are getting a 3bed/3bath townhouse with a pool for a little over a $100 a night. I can't wait to get there! Nov 6-13! :cool1:

Hotel-wise, the best deal we got was $30/night at Hyatt Place Universal, but it would have been a 15 minute drive(at least) to the WDW parks(we were at Universal that year)

Townhome-wise, we rented a 3 bedroom townhome at Emerald Island in June and it was fantastic! 5 minutes to AK and about 10 to the TTC, Epcot and DHS, wireless internet, washer/dryer, kitchen and a 2 minute walk to the clubhouse pool. It was $500 for the week once taxes were added in.

I saw this one, but the $299 is just a special, I think.

Hey there! I'm a UNC Tarheels fan also and live in NC!! Do you mind giving me your secret to how you got the $30/night at Hyatt Place Universal? We're going to US/IOA for the 1st time this year (nov.20th - 27th) and would love to get that rate and be that close to Universal!!

I bid on Priceline and used 3.5* for rating and Universal area/convention center for the area. A lot of people were getting HP for that price last year, but things may have changed since the WWOHP is open. I don't know what the current rate is for HP, but the rooms are worth $100/night easy. Free internet, fridge, HUGE room with 2 queens and a sleeper sofa. Big screen tv, shuttle to US(or walk it in about 15 minutes or pay $5 for a cab) They also had a free continental breakfast downstairs. We didn't use the pool, but I hear it is small.

Thanks for the info! I will do some research on it.

In this case, I was looking in ebay travel/lodging and sorting by newly listed. I had been looking at ebay for Orlando deals for a few days and was looking for a possible last-second deal.

The Bonnet Creek listing I bought was put up late Friday night for a reservation starting the next day.

Someone obviously had to cancel at the last-second and they dumped it. I was lucky to get it.

It had be travelzoo this year. I have Residance Inn booked for 49.00 dollars For September.

Priced out the Double Tree International Drive for December 31 thru January 2nd - regular 2 queen beds - standard room I suppose..

Salute to the heros, all firemen, police, active or retired military - rec'd 50% off book rates - paying $69.50 for New Years Eve - then 103.00 for the same 2 queen bed room on January 1st with AAA.

I have it penciled it, but thought it was a good rate.
I'm going to research it more - Would love to have stayed in Disney for those 2 nights to be closer to the fireworks, but cost is the issue for those 2 nights.

We are staying with my Mom in her timeshare in Hilton Vacation Club the following week.

:) good luck with the hotel search..

The 2 best deals we ever got were free- the ILs gave us a week at their timeshare in 2007 (Celebrity Resort Kissimmee, but we wouldn't stay there again), and we will be staying 6 nights in November at the Baymont Inn & Suites Celebration on hotel frequent stay points.

The least expensive hotels we have paid for were both found on Hotwire. We stayed 3 nights at the Extended Stay Deluxe LBV for $30/night in 2008. In January 2009, we got the Best Western Lakeside hotel for $32/night for 10 nights. I would stay at either place again. Definitely worth the $$ paid, and more.

I just got two nights at the Wyndham near Universal in January 2011 for $42/night, which I'm happy with, on Priceline.

I've been an eBayer for over a dozen years, but wasn't too sure on those hotel deals -- any tips for those would be more than welcome.

We're doing the Dream for NYE 2011/12 and would like to stay near Disney for 2-3 days afterward, early January 2012, and I'm looking for great prices, lol.

Nice -- $42.00 is awesome!
I'm going to look into Priceline right now.
Did you offer that amount and it was accepted.
I've never used PL before.

Have you stayed at the Wyndham near Univ before?

Whats IL? in the previous posters comments...

IL must be in-laws!

I was hoping to get the Doubletree (twin towers opposite Universal) and had bid that amount but was rejected. Actually, I'm glad, as I've stayed there before and it's just boring -- plus they charge for EVERYTHING, from $12/day for parking, to $9.95 for internet, and breakfast is not included. I'd read on another site that someone was able to get Doubletree for $42 (everywhere else the lowest rate is $79).

I expanded my search, bid the same amount, and Wyndham accepted it. At first I wasn't sure this was a good idea, as I used to live in Orlando and always advised people to NOT :scared1: stay on I-Drive (International) as it's so crowded, but it is at the corner of I-Drive and Sand Lake (I used to work on Sand Lake just down the road a bit) and I know the area so it's really going to be okay.

Reviews on TripAdvisor are mixed, but there was enough variety there to make me know they have about 1000 rooms and I'm sure if the room they give me isn't acceptable, we can change. We're not particularly fussy (except for bedbugs, ugh) as we really only want a place to put our heads at night, not a resort where we can lounge by the pool and have our spa needs met :rotfl: and that should be fine.

We're going to take advantage of the timing to do Harry Potter at Universal on Friday before heading to our cruise  on Saturday.

I booked the Double Tree near Sea World, I Drive, for Dec 31th thru the 2nd of January... got a rate of $69.00 and $103.00, not bad, 2 queens. ( I think it was just taken over, forget the original name, but it's DoubleTree something center)
And now that I'm thinking of it, I think they do require a fee for parking - but the place looked nice, with mini-golf and lazy river for the kids.
We are staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations at International Drive that Sunday - we need a 2 night stay before that.
Unsure if it's the tower building as you described.

I've never used to PL, as I was afraid i'd get a 'dump' of a place LOL
and if I booked and paid, I couldn't cancel.

I guess I should branch out LOL and go with it.
