Hello, my dh and I are in the early stages of planning a family vacation to WDW. We have never been together and can not wait to "do Disney" as a family. We have 2 sons that will be 3 yo and 10 yo in June. The boys and I went in August of 2004 for 4 days with a family friend and my dh went in June of 2005 for a convention. We homeschool so we can plan any month. We are thinking sometime between September and November because we are having a new home built and are scheduled to close in December. That said, I want your honest opinion about when is the "best" month - any of the 12!

Thank you so much!

I have been March, July (NEVER AGAIN), December and January. January is the hands down favorite time. NO CROWDS!! Temps have been cool but never really cold for us. Rates are at the lowest too. DS swims in Jan but the adults find it too cold but that is not a big deal as we swim all the time at home. Early december is nice too but more and more crowds each year it seems.

DH and I went on our honeymoon Sept 29-Oct 5 in 2002. It was the absolute best time. Summer is too crowded and hot. The first week of December was nice, but too cold to swim. The end of Sept was perfect weather (as long as you can dodge the hurricanes) and crowds are low because kids just started school.

Why not consider this September? the weather should be good and there is the free dining option...a huge savings! Also, the crowds aren't so bad since most kids are back in school.

We went this past March (1st week - after president's day, before spring breakers) and had a PERFECT time. Cost was low this week, which is good, and weather was great. We loved it so much that we're already planning a return for November (Thanksgiving week).

Before you decide to go, I would check out two things which are most important (in my opinion).

1) Understand what weather you like as a family (hot for swimming, cool to not sweat your tails off, in between) and then check some weather sites. Weatherunderground has a trip planner where you can put in a timeframe and get historic weather stats <http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KORL/1997/3/1/PlannerHistory.html?PlannerFrontPage=1>

2) Since you can go anytime, check out touringplans.com and look at the crowd level. By selecting a low crowd level, you have a better shot at getting lower rates because hotels have excess capacity. <http://www.touringplans.com/tp2/UG2_index.php?PageID=14>

Listen to me sounding like a freaking expert after my ONE trip! I think what I've said will be backed by other Dis Boarders...

Oh - FYI - September in Orlando can be VERY HOT - the average high is upper 80's and there's a 52% chance of having a day over 90.

OCTOBER is a great time not too hot,but still able to wear Shorts & T-Shirt.Low crowds,MNSSHP..what more can i say :thumbsup2

Welcome to the Dis,Happy Planning :goodvibes

I really like December but its kinda busy depending on what week you go.

I think Sept or early Oct is about the perfect time. No lines and weather is really nice.

The week after thanksgiving- low crowds, low rates, but all the holiday decorations and events are up and running.
