My husband and children love WDW and are planning a trip back in April. The last time we were there I spoke with a CM at the DVC table, but didn't have anytime left to take a tour. I have read through the book they sent me and watched the video. We are considering if DVC would be a good option for us. This trip we will have a free day and would like to look into DVC a little further.

Can anyone tell me about the initial visitation/presentation process? Which resort do you go to for the presentation? Is it child friendly? Are there any perks for attending a DVC presentation?

Thanks!

You can set up a tour from any of the DVC kiosks in the parks, resorts or at DD. They will even provide transportation from/to any of the WDW resorts or parks. The sales center is located at SSR and there is also a model at BWV near Jellyrolls.

Childcare is provided and there is at least ice cream after the tour and some have also received fastpasses or gift cards in the past.

Enjoy! :)

Keep in mind before buying that you can buy resale and save money. You can read previous discussions on resale or contact the above sponsor with questions. The tour is a great idea to get information so I don't want to discourage you from it.

We took the tour and bought in March, 2009. We actually scheduled our tour for 8:30 a.m. and we had a DVC van pick us up from our resort and take us to SSR where we talked with a Guide about DVC and took the tour. At SSR, you can see room models of BLT, SSR, and AKV. Also, childcare was provided. Since we went ahead and bought the day we took the tour, the process took about 2 hours, but, when we left, we had our temporary membership cards in hand and had already booked our first DVC vacation. After we were done, we received VIP FastPasses and an ice cream social, and we had a DVC van available to take us anywhere on property that we wanted.

Enjoy your trip and hopefully we can welcome you home when you get back. :thumbsup2

FYI: Even if you do not purchase the same day you will still have a DVC van available to take you anywhere on property that you want.

Thought I would mention as I used to be an ASA with Disney Vacation Club and I was asked that question on more than one occasion.

We did the tour in September/09. They took our two kids (6 & 8) to the "kids club" area and they had a great time (played video games, watched movies, had snacks, etc). The sales pitch was very low pressure and was a lot of fun. We booked our DVC appointment at Downtown Disney, and the van picked us up there and took us to SSR. After the 1 hour tour/pitch we all went and had an ice cream sundae, got a family picture taken, and recevied VIP fastpasses (good for three rides each). They even let us take the kids back to the model rooms to let them see what they were like.

We didn't buy on our trip (we didn't want to make a decision that big while we were on our vacation (didn't want the great time we were having bias our decision)). We did buy through the resale market a few months later.

It is well worth doing the tour though.

we just did the tour Dec 18th. DH surprised me saying he was intersted!

We stopped by the table at WL on our way back in from the parks and asked if we could go over right that moment. they had a van there in 5 minutes to get us. We headed over with our 2yo son- the van had car seats. We kept him with us, I didn't know there was child care and didn't see any.

they were very accomodating with him though- let us push the stroller around, gave him juice box etc. We sat and talked over the basics, which we knew, so that didn't take long. Then we did the tour of the units- AKV and BLT. Then back to the room for more questions, then the ice cream parlor (which we passed on) and back to the van. The van will take you where you watn on property.

We were given a $100 disney gift card. It was being promoted on a flyer/tent card on the nightstand of our room at WL.

I know the incentive/gift changes though often. The whole process took less than an hour and a half for us i think.

Same here...WL called a van, took us thru the information process...very informative and fell in love with the model units. We didn't buy b/c I knew about the value of the resale market, but we got 100 dollar disney gift card, and fastpass cards that were good for 3 'instant' fastpasses. It was a nice experience. I'm going to buy resale in the near future (after I see how much fed tax I have to pay this year!)

It's been years since we took the tour. We made arrangements at the kiosk in our resort. We were staying at All-Star Music. We told the guide that we had lunch reservations at Epcot. She said no problem. They had a CM meet us at the gate to the right of the American Adventure where a van picked us up. Not only did we get a DVC tour, we even received an informal behind the scenes tour of Epcot. The perk at that time was coupons for free dinners at any restaurant we chose for all in our party. All six of our children were with us on that trip. Later that year we bought at resale.
