With all the posts about ROFR, I'm curious about how much current owners actually paid for their points.

Resales: include closing costs in the average
Add-ons: average all purchases
MB: deduct cash incentives

I've deleted my original comments about this survey except to say that about the only thing this survey tells (and it's mostly from reading the posters' comments) is that the purchase price has steadily increased over the years and that the earlier one purchased, the cheaper the price.

I paid $62/pp back in 1995 directly from Disney.

Points were $51.50 back in early 1992, direct.

The average retail price was $70pp, across our 2 contracts. However, we took advantage of magical beginnings with both of our contracts. As a result, our net purchase price was $60pp.

Hi,

My mom paid $74 a point for BCV!!

Allison

Our average is $70. This is for 2 contracts (one DVC & one resale) and one add on through DVC. I have not bought any points for 2+ years now.

Our recent resale (4/04) @ OKW came out to be $67.66 including closing costs. I think our timing was perfect as it was right before the price increases @ SSR. :goodvibes

VWL $72/pt
BCV $70/pt presell
SSR $69/pt presell (Subtracted $10/pt due to getting an extra
year 12/03 without having to pay for it).

Average, weighted for point totals= $70.57/ point.

you add up all your costs (not what you pay per point) and divide that by your total points.

BWV closed 4/04 appx. $67.50/point

BWV closed 8/04 appx. $70/point

both bought resale and price includes closing costs

We bought our original 210 points at the going price of $62.75 each (I seem to recall) in June 1995. Of course, that included the free park pass incentive (which ended only a couple of months after we purchased).

In late 1999, we purchased a 230 point resale for $56 per point. If you factor in closing costs, the actual price was closer to $58 per point. The best part of this resale was that all 230 of the 1999 points were intact and that they included park passes. The downside was that we didn't have time to make a ressie in 1999 before the resale closed. Still, we had a bunch of points at our disposal in 2000.

So our average price per point is very close to $60.

We bought in 2002 and the average cost for BCV direct and OKW resale was $69.51 per point

Average price per point charged by DVC for each year, reflecting price changes as appropriate.

DVCI
1991 $48.94
1992 $52.88
1993 $56.75
1994 $59.30
1995 $62.13
1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.54
2002 $78.25
2003 $84.00
2004 $84.00

DVCII
2003 $81.05 ($79 pre-opening, then $84 on 11/1/03)
2004 $91.98 (estimated average for year, currently $95)

Minimum contracts were 230 points until 5/93 when they dropped to 190, then dropped again to the current minimum of 150 as of 5/97.

The purpose of the poll, rather than to confirm the obvious (prices increase over time), was to get a general idea about prices paid by DIS posters.

I found Caskill's thread about DIS Posters interesting and offered this poll as a supplement.

sparkspeak, thanks for clarifying this! In one of the ROFR posts, someone had suggested starting a thread or posting a poll to identify what contracts are or are not passing ROFR to try to determine a trend. Initially, that's what I thought your poll intended. You know what they say about "assuming" things...
