What is the AAA discount on MYW package with dining?

We booked thru AAA in Feb for April 19-28th staying at All Star Movie. The AAA agent told me that she couldn't give me a AAA discount on the room because there wasn't any AAA rooms available for our dates. Okay, we were fine with that. Now are final payment is due tomorrow and I was just checking the pricing on via disney world web page and the AAA price and the disney price is exactly the same. SHouldn't we be getting some kind of discount on our tickets? And if so, what is the standard AAA discount on packages? I know we can't use the new park hopper code, but isn't there normal everyday discount that AAA gives? Thanks for any info. I just want to make sure we aren't getting riped off.

The AAA discount is on the room price only. It is 15% off during Peak and Regular seasons, 20% off during Value season.

I have priced rooms in the value season two years in a row. Both times AAA was 12.9% off. I expect the discount varies by state and resort as well as availability. Still a good deal.

I booked 10 nights MYW at the Polynesian with Dining for Oct 4-14, 2006 and the price difference was:

from disney.com - $4988.00 (roughly)
from aaa - $4400.00 (roughly)

So, AAA is saving me about $500 (if we even end up going, it's all still up in the air right now)...but, a good savings IMO

It probably varies each year, but the AAA rate will be the same for all members, regardless of location. They're just pending availability (if they sell out you get rack rate).

I just put in Oct. 3, 2006 (value season) and pulled up a AAA rate of $63.20 for the value resorts, and $111.20 for the mods - which is 20% off. Hmmm... Maybe we should go back this year!!

As others have stated the AAA discount is for the room only (if any rooms are available at the AAA rate), they do not give a discount on tickets.

Did your agent book 2 reservations for you since you are staying during peak season the 1st part of your trip (thru April 22nd) and regular season for the rest of your trip (April 22nd thru April 28th)?

While there are no AAA discounts being shown available for this time at your resort, your agent should have booked 2 seperate reservations for you so you wouldn't have to pay peak season rates for your entire trip. Peak season rates for a standard room are $115/night and regular season are $99/night (before 13% tax is added).

I think you could price out how much the package was with tickets and then price the tickets out separately thru them....isn't like a 5% discount on tics when you purchase them alone? I remember saving a bit when I bought them thru AAA and was staying offsite.

Planning another trip and due to the fact we couldn't use the airfare (BLIZZARD - still got there by car!) last time, it will be less hassle to book thru Disney -- BUT -- never thought of AAA discount and I sure wouldn't mind a little discount!!!!

I booked the GF LV for seven nights in Aug, 2 adults with 7 day hoppers. The price from Disney was $ 3783.08 AAA $ 3291.40 A 13% savings. Not a bad deal.

I booked this past week and the water parks were not an included upgrade. AAA had water parks feature on our tickets initially but I had them take that off and the price of the package went down. Now I just need to keep my fingers and toes crossed that NW keeps flying.

You can book through Disney and get the AAA room only discount (this is what we did this year). If you want the dining package, you'll have to book through AAA.

You cannot get the AAA discount and the ticket upgrade. You have to choose one.

Hi Samantha - In a nutshell, no you are not getting ripped off. If AAA doesn't have discounts on rooms during your travel period, then they offer the same rates as Disney. There are no AAA discounts on tickets or dining.

Quite frankly, IMHO, unless you want the AAA room discount AND the dining package, there is no reason to go through AAA at all. (The only way you can get the AAA room discount and dining is through AAA) If you don't want dining, you can get the AAA room discount (if available during your travel time) directly through Disney (or a Disney TA specialist like Small World) and you can get discounts on tickets through outlets like ticketmania.com. (check out mousesavers.com for some great ticket discount suggestions)

What AAA does offer are little perks like luggage tags, AAA discount cards for various shops and restaurants (mostly in DTD) and a special AAA parking pass. Personally, the hassle of going through AAA just isn't worth it for these perks.

Anyway - if there were no AAA room discounts available during your travel period than it would make sense that your AAA quote and the Disney quote are the same.
