Sorry for a newbie question but what is the deal with reservations and 45 days? Is that when you are penalized for cancelling or something?

I've seen people say that getting an ADR you missed might happen at 45 days out because people cancel? Why?

Thanks!

Disney vacations have to paid in full 45 days out from their trip...otherwise if you cancel, you lose the deposit. Some people book a trip and then decide they can't swing it and cancel right before the deadline ;) Then they might also cancel ADRS! You might also check around the 60 day mark...maybe they scored an Anna and Elsa FP and will rearrange dinner plans for it...:confused3

The paid-in-full deadline for vacation packages is 45 days. So, if you book a vacation but can't come up with the money, then your package (hotel and tickets) will be cancelled at 45 days out. Since dining reservations are NOT cancelled automatically, the theory is that people will cancel their dining reservations after they cancel their package (or the package is cancelled for non-payment).

I think for 45 days is reasonable for many travel... by booking early you might have the best choice in services and possibly a discount.
