I can't put my finger on it. It smells kinda like a fryer that needs to be cleaned (you current/former fast food workers know what I mean) except I haven't fried anything in this house in months. The cat box is clean, all the dishes are clean, the trash doesn't have anything smelly in it and even Dh's stinky shipyard clothes are freshly washed (I felt somewhat energetic today :goodvibes ) So WTH is that smell???

i smelled it also like something is burning. or could be a brush fire in glouster

I hadn't thought of that! Maybe it's not inside the house? I saw the Gloucester fires on the news last night and they are pretty nasty. Considering how windy it is maybe it's blowing the smell this way. Either that or Petey had a little accident and hid it from me

Bradford pear trees blooming? They smell like old fryer grease, after you've fried chicken in it.

All I can smell is the butthead in the office upstairs who keeps sneaking a cigar in the Men's Room. The whole building reeks.

Yuck! My house stinks, too! My 7-year-old decided to reheat some leftover toast from yesterday. I didn't know you could burn toast in the microwave, but apparently you can! Blech! :(

Even if it does not look that dirty, maybe something spilled and it is carrying the smell. Or, did you cook bacon recently? That smells up my house.

maybe something that spilled in the oven and is now reheating everytime you turn it on (same thing can happen with unsealed burners-something falls or spills underneath the cooktop and every time the oven heats up-eeeeeeeeeeew).

I never realized how much cigarette smoke makes the house reek until about a week after I quit. I walked in the house and the stench was HORRIBLE. It was freezing cold but I had to open all the windows to air the place out. Thankfully, Dh quit smoking in the house.

I still haven't found the culprit. I've been skulking around the house on a recon mission armed with a can of fresh linen scent lysol trying to find the smelly enemy. Thus far it has eluded capture.

Do you have a toaster oven? DH always puts butter on the bagels before he toasts them - if it drips down it starts to stink after a while.

How about some potatoes? I had one that was rotten once and I couldnt figure out what it was. It was horrible.

OMG are you serious? We were thinking about buying one soon. Do they really smell that bad?

I may have to wait until Dh gets home to send fresh troops into battle. But then whenver I wonder about a smell when he's home he blames poor Petey :lmao:

Is Mary hiding in your house?

I saw the thread title and then saw that it was you posting it. I automatically thought of, "Mary, don't come over here." :lmao: :lmao:

I'm sorry, that is one of the funniest things I've ever read on DISboards. I'm never going to let you forget that little story! :rotfl2:

If it's Mary she really needs to see a good gastroenterologist :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Actually, now that I think about it, I guess it would be Mary's friend with the gas problem, not Mary. She was warning Mary! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I had my hair permed--can you smell that all the way in VA? :rotfl2: The kittens won't even get near me! :guilty:

Could it be some food that got down into the sink drain? Sometimes that happens on the side of the sink that doesn't have a disposal, and the food just sits in there and rots. I hate that!

Petey won't come near me when I'm coloring my hair. Sigh....I only wish I had enough hair to color anymore.

I hope this stench doesn't turn out to be a dead mouse or something that we only find when we start packing. We have another month before we start that and I don't know if I can stand it that long
