What is Star Wars weekend, and what am I in for...

It has come to my attention that I will be in WDW for the beginning of the Star Wars weekends. What in the heck is this all about and what am I in for!? I will be there May 13 - May 17.

Star Wars weekend is a big deal at MGM. Have you been to MGM? If not they have the Star Tours ride. Now what happens from what I can tell on this weekend is that some of the characters that were in the Star Wars movies show up and sign autographs.

The only thing I really noticed when we went last year was that the 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' attraction was all about Star Wars trivia. I was at first disappointed since I knew nothing about Star Wars, but it became really fun because these Star Wars fans really know their stuff. We saw a guy win the grand prize - it really was pretty exciting!

Other than that, I don't remember noticing anything all that different.

We were there for SWW in May 2000 and it's really just a "theme" for the weekends. The most noticeable difference were the Storm Troopers on the entrance plaza. Once in the park, there were characters from the Star Wars movies out for autographs and photos - my two DSs favorite picture is of them with Darth Maul. There is a special guest each weekend and they are usually in the parade.

Bottom line - no big differences at MGM other than a lot of folks there for the weekend are big Star Wars fans.

I feel better now. I wasn't sure what it was and how it would effect my vacation. Getting some Star Wars pics and autographs should be cool!

We really enjoyed it last May. The crowds may have been a bit heavier than normal on our Saturday but we did not mind. Nothing can compete with walking up to the entrance of MGM and seeing those storm trooper standing guard and hearing the Star Wars theme music!!!! Although I took many pics of ds(12) with different characters the best one, now framed and in our living room, is of him and a storm trooper!!!!!!!
