What is so special about the Palo brunch?

Oh Rae, I haven't told my DH I posted this thread yet...but after reading your comment I HAVE to now. He is a huge lover of shrimp, all kinds of shrimp, thank you!!!

The brunch was really lovely, and they had great choices, the crab legs were great, as were the entrees they have all of the "regular" brunchie one like eggs benedict, but also had tenderloin, and other specials, which is what we had and it was terrific, it is a nice way to feel very pampered....

In one word.....

SHRIMP

And to beat it all, those rascals are already peeled at the Palo brunch. No messy shrimp shells. :-)

So I would assume that brunch would be better on a sea day? Is it always late in the morning? How early will Palo seat you?

It's ONLY offered on sea days, and I think the earliest you can get seated is 10:30 AM. We sat at this time with our DIS group on 8/21. I think it runs until 1:30 or so.

Oh and if it wasn't answered before, you can do all three, high tea, brunch, and dinner. We did, you just have to be quick off to the side in Rockin' Bar D where the unmarked table is for brunch and high tea.

We're DCL newbies-do they have the brunch on 3 day cruises? For instance, do they have the brunch on the day the ship is in port at Nassau? We've pretty much decided to stay onboard that day. You figure the next day, you're in port at CC!

Now, that's the kind of detail that does my heart good! Yayyyy, DISboards!

Ever tried to peel a shrimp one-handed?
you could die of salivary obstruction before you ever got a taste, believe me!

LOL Videogal

wdwa - I believe brunch ressies aren't difficuilt (although on a four day, they might...?)

Last Thurs, brunch was on the sea day. The food was wonderful. I will write what I can remember there being - but I am sure I am missing a lot of the items. There was an antipasta type "salad" type buffet that had delicious buffalo mozzerella, sundried tomato, marinated mushrooms, peppers, excellent pesto; a seafood buffet station that had crab legs, crab, shrimp and smoked salmon. There was a cheese station, and also breakfast items such as fresh berries with whipped cream.

Then you can order from the menu. I ordered Eggs Florentine. This was poached eggs on spinach with a parmasean sauce and excellent sliced parmasean chease. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict that he loved. In addition to breakfast items there were substantial lunch items on the menu.

There were individual pizzas that looked excellent - but we just couldn't eat that much. They had one with wild mushrooms that looked great - and there was also a yummy looking sweet pizza for desert. We also had desert - excellent pastries and tiramisu. I ordered a cappucino and was not charged extra. My husband had a mimosa and we were also not charged extra for that.

It was not too crowded and we got a nice table right by the window. I highly recommend this - its about the best $10 you can spend on board! It was peaceful, elegant and great food. Enjoy.

Jillpie - double check. When we did a four night in 2003 there was no brunch offered, however that may have changed.

Missycj, thank you for that description!!!! Oh my gosh, I had to call my husband over to read that one. He was very excited and said we HAVE to do this brunch. He loves anything with shrimp and crabs. Thanks again!!!

Amazing! Be sure to wear your "Buffet pants" (that would be the elastic waist ones!

:p

P.S. The waiters weren't bad to look at either! :teeth:

mmouse37 -- Your pics of the brunch are making me HUNGRY and SO excited for our cruise!!! Still 150 days away, but I'm counting!
