This will be our first trip to Universal, so I'm reading everything possible (I'm a Disney commando - what can I say!) I keep reading on these boards how great Mythos is. What is it that everyone likes so much? :confused3

Will my 16, 14 and 11 like it, or is it a place that adults seems to enjoy more? I've looked at the menu, and I need some convincing!

Also, we leave in less than 2 weeks. Will Mythos be open for dinner, or is it only lunch?

Thanks to all for your help!

Here's my Mythos page from 3 years ago.
Mythos

It feels like you're watching a movie, looking out the big window. Of coarse, that can all be ruined if the kids are fighting and they're impatient or the server is slow. But when it all works out, you feel like you walked out of a movie.

Yes, they'll be open late during the summer. It's still a good idea to go there at 11:30am for lunch.

Let the kids share a Wrap of the Day and a Cowboy Burger. You get free bread to start. That way you can save some money and have desert later. Many people go there, order a meal each, then they're stuffed. Yet there's tons of desert places around the park, plus the glass desert shots at Mythos.

When you first walk up to the greeter, ask for a table in front of the big window, even if it means waiting 10-20 minutes extra.

It is one of the coolest restaurants anywhere atmosphere wise. Very unique kind of like you are in some type of futuristic cave. Very beautiful with great views of the park. Food wise pretty good too and with some very unique menu items. Although I think their menu changes quite a bit. They had some great scallops the last time I was there, hope they still have that.

We arent going to be able to "convince" you. Its something you have to try for yourself and make your own judgement call. My kids, 5 and 9, love it, and it is a little more upscale...not something that you would think kids would enjoy. But the view is spectacular, the architecture is wonderful and the general atmosphere fits the themeing of the island that surrounds it. I have never seen it open later than 4, but then again.....I'm usually in USF by that time.:thumbsup2
I will say its unlike anything I've seen at disney.....but then again thats not a bad thing.

1- the atmosphere from the theming
2- Ooey gooey chocolate banana cake

Wow! Thanks for the pics, menus and input. We may just have to check Mythos out.

Thanks!

I've walked past it so many times but finally went in for a bite in Feb. The place looks amazing and to look out and see the park ( espc Hulk) is great.

But the food is the main thing, its of such high quality for a theme park, different than most you walk into and the service is of a hight level.

Love it and going back to it when i'm back next Feb !!!

To add a few things:

1) Ask the server about the rissoto of the day and the pasta of the day. these items change frequently.

2) the CORVIA is back on the menu and is fantastic.

3) If you like butterscotch, they have a butterscotch martini. If Ellen is working ask if it would be possible that she could make it for you. If they look at you funny just say Mr. Henderson recommended it and that Ellen gets it just right. The martini is $8.75 i believe. Potion of the Gods is also very good.

4) Visit the bathroom and see if vertigo starts to hit you.

5) Look carefully at all the walls and columns for the interesting carvings. :cool2:

Mytho's was ranked the #1 theme park restaurant in the world for the past four years, and for good reason! The food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is even better. We eat there every time were at Island of Adventure, something 3 or 4 times a trip!

We ate there for the first time just a few months ago and are so glad we did. Mythos will now be a regular stop on each of our trips to IOA. :thumbsup2
