What is so bad about Mears?

No, it wasn't a "slack" time it was busy season--3rd week of June. In the pre-terrorism days, getting to an airport 2+ hours in advance of a flight was not a necessity--an hour to hour and one half was plenty of pre-boarding time and the recommended time.

The bottom line was we rode the doggoned greyhound-like bus all over creation and it was for the convenience of Mears, not the guest. I prefer the better customer service afforded by a car service. ;)

I used them last year, I was traveling alone to visit my mom who was working the late shift at the Doubletree in DTD. It worked great for me, becuase I was by myself and it was cheap. We only stopped at one other place, the van was full but not uncomfortable and I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes after arriving before we left. I wasn't frustrated... and she did warn me that sometimes it takes awhile, and I knew she wouldnt be off work yet anyways. I wasn't in a hurry to get to the parks or anything, which helped.

But I can see how it would be an issue at high season, or with anxious families =) Also, I wouldnt use them if it were more than 2 people... Its usually cheaper and easier to use other methods. Most of the people on my van were single riders, btw.

We have a small child...(okay...that is REALLY all I have to say!!):p But, the last time we rode Mears, we had to wait over an hour! She was about ready to climb the walls, the chairs, the luggage and ANYTHING else she could think of!! The airport is just not a safe place to have your children want to run, and they are SO excited...they just cannot sit (esp. after being on a plane for 4.5 hrs). Other waiting families were having just as much of a hard time as we were.

Then, when we got on the bus...we were the LAST stop on the bus!! It was SO awful!! It would be fine, I guess if you do not have children...but, we spend so much money to go to WDW...time REALLY is money there, and the difference between Mears and a town car is not enough for us to worry about!!

But, everyone has got to make that decision for themselves.

i personally havent used mears or ne other means to get to disney from the airport. in fact, ive never even been to the airport in orlando. but if i had to choose 1, judging from what i heard, i think i may try mears once. then if its no good, take car service.

jus my 2 cents. ::yes::

I think the waste of time is the biggest problem with Mears.

If it is in the morning or early afternoon, your burning daylight and PARK TIME.

When I travel by myself, and use Mears, I just fly in the night before and don't worry about how long it takes to get to my resort!!

On my last day, I just chalk it up to saving money and spend the time on the Mears bus.

MEARS:mad: :mad:
Last time I went on Mears was about 5 years ago. I was traveling by myself late at night( after midnight) the driver drove everyone to their hotels first. It was a full van and last but not least it's my turn.(time now was after 1p.m.) Driver suggests why don't we go to Downtown Disney!!! Never again on Mears!
