We're thinking of changing our plans and going to WDW at the end of September. What is the weather and crowds like at this time. I'm hoping the crowds will be WAY down and the heat/humidity will be down also.
We've been the first week in December for the last two years. I'd prefer to go then this year also, but DH says "been there, done that". Do you know how the crowds at the end of September compare to the first week of December?
I was there the 2nd week in January (another low attendance time) and September was still less crowded. Usually the hours in Sept. are cut back but they are pretty good this year especially with WISHES everynight.
The one thing we enjoy about September is kicking back at the pool in the afternoon and giving the feet and DS a break. We also are waterpark people.
If your DH gets his way- just remember- Its Disney-how bad can it be?? Good luck and enjoy your trip!
the longest lines end of Sept were 20 minutes and that was only 2 rides. The weather is still quit warm upper 80s very humid but it goes down to low 70s at night and rains everyday. I perfer Sept because it low attendence and I can still swim at night to wind down.
Just ditto-ing what others have said. We usually go in Jan or Feb and September, and I like both for different reasons. September for the low crowds yet it's still hot enough to get good use out of the pools - especially at night. Jan or Feb because I'm from Mass and it's WONDERFUL to get away from the snow for a week, lol!
Same as the others have said. September is a great month to go. Only thing I would add is think of visiting the water parks. The crowds are much lower than the summer and it is still warm enough to enjoy them.
I will only go the first week dec or in sept! Septemeber is great but still incredibly HOT!!!!! All that walking around is tiring but we do get to do everything much faster. I love dec because there are no crowds, the weather is super, and the decorations are beautiful but sept is still a wonderful time with the exception of the heat.
Went last year 2nd week of Sept. and 2nd week Dec. Crowds were about the same. I like Dec. due to cooler temps, Christmas decorations and the parks lit up at night (gets dark at 5pm or so). Sept is hot and still the risk of tropical storms/Hurricanes to spoil everything.
Oh! I'm so excited to hear so many people say Sept is a great time to go!! Last time I was there was the week of Thanksgiving in 99, and I don't remember any lines being too unbearable, but this'll be nice to have (hopefully) no real long waits!!
I'm actually kind of glad that it'll be really hot... As an Albany, NY dweller, I realize that there's only a short window of opportunity that I'll get to experience real hot weather before we just get buried in Snow.
I was wondering if anyone knew why the weekend of September 10 - 11 the parks close so much eariler than the rest of the weekends. It will be fine to be back early with our grandson, just curious. Thanks!
I'm looking forward to the hot weather, too! We went in Jan. this year and it was freezing. I just got back from our July camping trip in Maine, and I was wearing a fleece jacket the whole week! In July!
Give we some sun, please!!!!
Nathan's Grandma - I think that weekend is the Nights of Joy, so they may have the parks reserved for that. I beleive you need tickets to attend, similar to the Halloween Party, etc.
I enjoyed going in September and although it was hot I didn't think it was unbearably so. Also it was nice because you could still take advantage of the pools and waterparks unlike January which was plesant but not really waterpark weather.

"This special ticket event takes place at the Magic Kingdom from 7:30pm to 12:30am. The park will close and reopen for Night of Joy ticket holders. Several stages will be used and popular attractions will be open."
This will be our third time going at the end of sept, what we have found ,like the beginning of the month, the weather can be a bit hit & miss-last year was more miss! But 2001 was excellent.Crowds are down but still gets busy at weekends, park hours are less with some show ie Spectro only at weekends.
Last year WDW closed one of the waterparks at the weekend-Fri/Sat TL & BB Sun/Mon (or vice versa),I don't know if they will do that this year but obviously it's better to go when both are open.
We love this time of year & also we get to do MNSSHP first weekend in Oct!!

Thanks! I knew it was the Night of Joy and there would be Christian music being played but I did not realize that it was after park hours. I thought it was all day in different parts of the park.
