What is ropedrop at AK like for EE?

A tip...if you eat at Donald's for breakfast, you're positioned much closer for the inside rope drop than you are the outside one, at the entrance...just a hint! The walkway to Everest is *right* there.

And...the breakfast is pretty tasty, too!

We were there last Thursday ( a week ago, sigh!). We were there at 830, then about 2d in line at the rope. They walk you pretty far ahead towards EE, so its not a sprint. The last bit is, but if you are that close up you can get right in--Im sure depending on day of the week/time of the year. My DD and DH rode twice in a row and were done by 0920 or so.

When we were there in Sept, unfortunately we were later arriving than we expected. We wanted to be in the front of the rope drop crowd. Instead, we were 100 yards away from the rope when it dropped. Most of the people in the park went to EE and the line got very long, very early. We had planned on picking up FPs and then riding. Instead we picked up the FPs and went back to Dinoland for Dinousaur and Primeval Whirl. Both of these were walk-ons.

My advice would be dependant upon where in the crowd you are. If you are in the front of the crowd, the line will be very manageable. If not, get the FPs and enjoy Dinoland with no crowd . . . hit EE later with the FPs. We rode Dinosaur once and Primeval Whirl twice. Then, I went back to EE and got another set of FPs. So, it was 9:40 . . . we were done with Dinoland (except for Triceratop Spin) and we had two sets of EE FPs.

Just before rope drop the crowd gets quiet, the clouds part and streams of light beam down on pride rock,

Simba takes his place in the sun and the face of Mufasa appears in the sky...

"It is Time" he says

and the earth shakes as every animal in the park throws back their head and roars in celebration.

Then you ride Expedition Everest.

we were there on october 16 but headed over to the safari first. we did the safari, the pagani trail, and then decided to meander over to EE (only dh wanted to ride). the standby line was only 20 minutes long (dh did the single rider line and walked right on).

We were there last Sunday and went directly to EE. When we got there there was some kind of delay. So we didn't wait on line we went to Dinoland instead. But plenty of people were waiting it out on the line. I think it was only a short delay but we came back later. We used fastpass alot but also just waited on the regular line and it wasn't too bad.

We did this, but after really looking, going through Asia is actually quicker. You just saw two large masses of people (lead by CM's because of people running and knocking over carriages) quickly walking. I think our CM's felt bad because they started walking a little after the other group, so they let us all go in the FP entrance. Very awesome, but yeah...going through Asia was quicker and yeah, there's a huge group of people.

Wow....thanks for the heads up, Cass. :thumbsup2

I really need to make it a point to get to AK rope drop. Getting there at 10 ish only allows me to capture some poachers and watch a creepy looking bush walking around.

That earth shakes & animals roaring in unison part really sounds pretty cool. :teeth:

hound :smooth:
