What is right with kids today!

I'm always talking to teens and preteens when we're out and about. I just like to chat with people and kids are no different. Most of them are just perfectly nice kids and good to chat with. I think that they tend to be more aware than I was at that age which can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.

One problem is the lack of respect they often get from their elders. They tend to be rebellious anyway and when people treat them like pariahs, I think that they often act that way too. A self-fulfilling prophecy if you will.

Loved that story, figment52! And all the others too! I think that young people who do good works rarely get the spotlight. Evil and shocking stories are what make the news and what make people talk. What a shame!
My own son spends Friday nights making sandwiches and feeding the homeless in Boston with a group of fellow college students. My daughter helps disabled kids have an afternoon out by taking them bowling or golfing or for ice cream. There are so many kids doing good things out there, thanks for starting this thread to remind us! :)

Oh, yes!!!

I have noticed that kids today are more sensitive about children who are different than them. As a mom with a child that has Special Needs, I am amazed at the kindness and maturity I have seen from my child's peers. I think if he had been born thirty or forty years ago, the treatment of him by his peers would have been much worse.

I totally agree! :thumbsup2 My neice uses a wheelchair, and kids her age show little reaction to seeing her. In fact, they treat her condition with nonchalance for the most part. I think it's the inclusion in the schools in the past 20 years that has really brought about this change.
