What is rare?

I've seen several threads that post "Rare" in the title, but when I look at the inventory I see very few of them with rare items.

So, it is me? Or is it a case of personal value?

Most Host pins are not that rare, same as most buyables, but I see them called rare.

Just a thought.

Rare items are those that cannot be purchased or easily obtained. Most retired items are considered rare
