What is park capacity?

Disney is not forthcoming with those data. I know I've been in EPCOT when it has been closed to further admission. The rumour from a few CMs I know working the gates was that there were over 70,000 people there.

Can't help you much with this one I'm afraid.

Maybe there is a CM or two around who has better info!

We had a man at WDW this year tell us that a CM had told him that it is 80,000 at MK. No idea if this is true or not. I would guess it would be different at each park as the sizes of the parks are different.

I was told by a CM that 25,000 in MK was a slow day! I don't know how reliable that info is though. I do know that during E ride nights they supposedly only sell 5,000 tickets. The E ride nights we have been to have felt like ghost towns (which was totally awsome!!!!)

Not sure about capacity itself although the 80,000 above sounds close for MK. Years ago Disney actually did give out average daily entries to a park for different times of year (before there was MGM). The lowest for MK was usually during much of September at about 25,000, the highest was Christmas Week at about 110,000, during the two Easter weeks it was close to 100,000, July 4 period about 85,000, most of summer 65,000, other spring break weeks about 55,000. That was daily entries, including re-entries, not actual number in the park at any given time.

I could be completely off on this, but, for some strange reason the number 40,000 keeps popping up in my head. I remember reading the # somewhere in one of the old "unofficial" guide books. I know a couple of steve's researchers are on these boards. maybe they can help us out here?

That number is the average number of employees at WDW. That was around the number they mentioned in the Keys Tour a few years ago.

Obviously the number changes quite a bit.

I read this just a few days ago on a Disney trvia site:
Disney World's Magic Kingdom can hold 100,000 people.
I can't say it's official or true. But...

Your right Ed, thanks....I knew that number meant something; just couldn't remember what...

Today would be interesting to know if they reach capacity in MK today.
DH is there and went into MK, said it was crazy, bought a few pins and took the bus to AK.
He said the cars lined up to go into MK are clear back at the gate.

DH appears to spending the day park hopping. ;)
First MK. Then DAK. Then MGM, and he was on his way to Epcot.
He left DAK late morning and said they were closing that park to any incoming guests.
He said MGM was the busiest he has ever seen.

Disney doesn't comment on attendance (as I'm sure you all know) but I would really take rumors and the such with a grain of salt. So many figures fly around!!

According to the Orlando Sentinel
(here), the Magic Kingdom had about 14 million visitors this year, or roughly 38,360 guests per day. Epcot averaged 23,600, MGM averaged 21,560, and the AK averaged about 20,000.

I've heard that in the past the MK has held more than 100,000 people, but because of the difficulty with those crowds they like to keep max occupancy around 70,000 these days. I could be wrong, though.

Disney does not give out information about attendance anymore. All parks have different capacity levels based on the size of the park... For MK the above comment is just about right on :)

As for MK yesterday (Christmas Day) they closed due to capacity at about 11:45am... They reopened periodically throughout the day based on how many people were exiting, but it was quite a bit earlier than they were anticipating to reach capacity...Maybe that is a good sign for the economic times we are in :)

Happy Holidays everyone :)

And how many tickets do they sell for MVMCP a night? I thought I heard 25,000 and if that is true, I can not fathom what it would be like with 45,000 more people if 70,000 is true for MK.

Also, how lousy would that be to pull up to the park and have them tell you it is full?!!! I can understand their reasons, but I would sure hate it.

We were at WDW on NYE a few years ago and a CM was saying that there were 70,000 guests at MK and 80,000 at Epcot.

I believe that both parks had stopped admitting people.

I have to say that MK was very, very, very crowded that night, but the fireworks were well worth the hassle!

The numbers caverill quoted for MK and Epcot are about right from what I know from people who work for WDW.For MVMCP and MNSSHP it's around 20,000 tickets.

mike981...it does stink! It happened to my son and I, 3 years ago when we were there for the 4 days after Christmas. We ended up going and parking at Epcot, caught the monorail to MK and got in!!! I guess the parking lot at MK was full but guests were exiting the park as we went in...I dunno but it worked!:earsboy:
