What is on National's Emerald Aisle? *2011*

I finally got a rate under $200 for my upcoming rental. I had to use my own coupon since their's won't work for my timeframe. So if I keep this reservation I will post back what's on the aisle. Though it may not be good as we are coming in late on Friday (12) night at 6:30PM (unless our flight is late). Normally we come in around noonish!

Can you share what the base rate is, what code you used, if any and what type of coupon you used? I am arriving on Sunday the 14th and can't find a rate below $250 for the week

I am using 5007160 and the coupon is one of my free days from my personal EA account. Coupons don't seem to work for my timeframe (blackout). I looked at your dates and wow, the base rate is very high. My base rate JUST started dropping on Sunday, so maybe yours will start dropping soon. My base rate is $200. Today it dropped $1, but it's going in the right direction.

Update: My rate just dropped another $30!

Oh Yippeee! Thanks to the posts today I went back through (again) trying out the various codes, and so far I'm seeing that the Alaska FF member code is fabulous (it was our saviour in December, too), then there's a coupon on mousesavers, and right now we're $100 less than the reservation we have already..... Woo!

We're picking up on the 13th, and I'm using the Alaska FF code 5004076 and ND8434DJC (from a newsletter National sent out, on the mousesavers page). I just checked it out, and it's below 250 total, though not by a whole lot, from 14th-21st.

Well, I just checked and with that contract ID, my rate is now just $38 higher than my Enterprise reservation! It won't take any coupons for my dates, though 13-25th.

It's almost worth that much to me to bypass the counter, honestly. Something I never noticed before is that it says that a rental with additional drivers must go to the counter. DH would be my additional driver and I could swear we just handed his license to the booth on the way out of the parking lot before. The last few times I've rented from National have been work related and I've been alone. My company corporate contract ID includes additional drivers, but it's currently giving me a rate higher than the base rate for that period right now!

Any experience with additional drivers at National lately?

They recently sent an email about amendments...this is from the email, and now I guess I'll have to actually go READ what they amended.

HERE ARE THE AMENDMENT DETAILS:

1) We changed the definition of "Additional Authorized Driver" set forth in Section C, Paragraph 3(b);

2) We changed the terms of the Personal Accident Insurance/Personal Effects Coverage in the United States described in Section C, Paragraph 10(c); and

3) We changed the terms of the Liability Insurance or Qualified Self-Insurance described in Section C, Paragraph 11 (second full paragraph) by deleting the phrase "or Business Partner."

Please review or print an amended copy of the Emerald Club® Master Rental Agreement.

Thanks for that. I found it on the website and according to the rules, a spouse is considered an authorized driver, so no need to add them at the counter:

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, the Vehicle may only be driven by you or an Additional Authorized Driver. An "Additional Authorized Driver" is an individual who (i) is a capable and validly licensed driver for the type of Vehicle being rented, (ii) is at least 21 years of age (a young renter fee may apply for drivers under age 25), (iii) has your prior permission to drive the Vehicle, and (iv) is either a member of your immediate family who permanently resides with you, or a fellow employee who drives the Vehicle for business purposes. You will not allow use of the rental vehicle by any driver in violation of the requirements set forth above. Your immediate family members includes your parent, child, spouse or a domestic partner. In addition to the above, Additional Authorized Drivers who otherwise meet National’s qualifications can be added at the time of rental. The Additional Authorized Drivers and you are referred to collectively in the Agreement as Authorized Driver(s).

Holy cow, my rate just dropped $48 in a matter of hours. I'm down to $292 for a midsize Emerald Aisle using Contract ID 5007160 for the 13th through the 25th!

The Alaska FF code (5004076) is giving me an even better rate than that one for my dates (9/4-25).

Thought I would give you a report...some of you won't like it :)

8/7 (Sunday) 2:30 PM B side.

Both EA and Executive All cars. No SUVs, no minivans. Number of folks cruising looking for one or the other ... about four families (including one who was whining to the attendants "there aren't any on A either" Attendant did not volunteer to "upgrade them" as they were clearly hoping)

Not much "fun" either. There were two Infiniti G37s on the Executive (well only one after I took one :) )

Thanks for the report. We are lucky, I have never needed a van. Just like driving something different or fun. Great score on infinity. :woohoo:

Sooo. I have a mini van reserved for later this month.. from what I am hearing there are never any there... what do I do if I get there and no mini vans for pick up?? I have 7 people and a ECV to haul???

If you have emerald reserve you will have a mini van. But emerald aisle or ex. aisle is different and has cars from intermediate and up. For the $ of an intermediate.
Don't worry, you should be fine.

mky:cutie:

I looked at my confirmation - I have emerald reserve. so that is good to know I called as well and they said if nothing was there they would make sure I have a big enough car to take... whew.. thanks.

There were mini vans on the aisle labeled 'Mini Vans' and SUVs on the aisle labeled 'SUV'

There were just no free "upgrades" for people who reserved a mid size, but wanted a free upgrade to the larger vehicle.

Because there are reports that say "I got a mini van on the EA and only paid for a midsize" Some folks push their luck. But honestly, EA is marketed to business travelers who do not want minivans and are getting much pickier about SUVs (some of us are not willing to pay the fuel costs to drive the things!)

Maybe the reason that there were no SUVs or vans on the EA is because the time of year right now. It's summer time. Alot of families travelling needing more than a sedan. I haven't been in Orlando during the summer months for a while so I am just speculating. However, my last three times using the EA were either during October or January and during those times I have always scored an SUV and have seen mini vans available on both sides of the EA.

I am hoping that this Oct. when I will be there again that there are vans available because this time I will need one or at least some kind of vehicle that seats at least 7.

Good luck everyone and keep those reports coming!

I was at Terminal A Emerald Isle (EA)on Friday July 29th at 9 am. The EA was completely full with no empty spaces. I have rented multiple times off the EA and at different times of the year, it was the "fullest" that I have ever seen it. There were no vans, only a few SUVs and mostly fullsize cars. The SUVs would not have transported 7 passengers which is what our party consisted of. We had rented a van and that is what we took. There were several vans to choose from - ironically all of them where white.
