What is on everyones Christmas Dinner menu???

We have a mid morning breakfast and then a late lunch.

homemade cheese danish
ambrosia
spiced cider

Lunch: turkey
dressing
sweet potatoes (mashed regular for those that don't like sweet)
green bean casserole (for the kids-I hate it)
corn pudding
cranberry relish
pumpkin crunch
fudge pie

Christmas Eve is at my brother's house and I don't know what we are having.

We're having Lasagna. Compliments of ME. Okay, actually we were going to dine out on Christmas (we really celebrate on Christmas Eve @ my Mom's w/ the whole family) but couldn't find any place open other than Denny's and I refuse to eat Christmas dinner @ Denny's. I was thinking more like a family operated restuarant locally but all are closed. Should have seen that coming. So, I was going to make lasagna for Christmas Eve but will forgo that until Christmas Day. We'll have enough on Christmas Eve anyway.

WOO HOO 6 more days. Can't wait until my nieces and nephews see their presents. I bought my older niece a bike for Christmas (she's my godchild too, I always buy her a bigger present)! I can't wait to see her find it. I definitely get Aunt of the Year award this year. :teeth: I bought my younger niece a Simon Sazs Sit N Spin. That will drive her parents completely nuts!

Starting of with; bacon wrapped scollops, then a nice selection of cheese, then a pear salad, and finally filet with a mushroom sauce. Plus I always setup a snack table with chips and dip, shrimp, crabmeat stuffed mushrooms, coaktial sausage, cheese and crackers, candy, and new this year a martinin bar. Should be a good time for all, if you're in the neighborhood stop by.

My first time making xmas dinner and DF is worried I am going to get stressed but as it is only the 2 of us I am prepared to make mistakes!

No starter

Chicken: Much prefer to Turkey
Mashed Potatoes: I do a mean Mash!!!
Roast Potatoes: I have only done 'homemade' once before
Peas: The only veg Gavin will eat so no point on doing anything just for me
Sausages in Bacon: Looking forward to this; I know I can make it
Stuffing: Paxo; not up to making everything from scratch this time round
Yorkshire Puddings: What can possibly go wrong?!?!
Gravy: Oxo; Again dont want to push myself too far on my first xmas dinner!

Cheesecake: Saw this on another post and as it is Gavins fave I thought why not

Wish me luck!

:flower:

6 tablespoons Butter
1 cup Light Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
1/2 cup chopped Pecans
2 Eggs plus 3 Egg whites
1 cup Orange Juice
1/4 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Milk
1 teaspoon grated Orange Rind
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 (16oz) loaf French Bread-cut into 12 to 15 (1 inch) slices

In a microwavable dish, combine butter, brown sugar & corn syrup. Microwave until the butter has melted & the brown sugar has dissolved, about 1 minute. Pour the mixture into an ungreased, 3 quart oblong baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg whites, orange juice, sugar, milk, orange rind, cinnamon & vanilla.

Arrange the bread slices over the brown sugar mixture in the baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over bread slices.

Cover with plastic wrap & refrigerate overnight.

Prior to serving, preheat to 350 degrees.

Bake for about 30 minutes or until toasty. Serve immediately with some of the praline sauce that forms in the bottom of the baking dish!

Yum!!!

For all of you cooking ham for Christmas dinner, can you give me an easy recipe? Preferably one that could be cooked in the microwave. Usually I do turkey, but the family wants ham this year. Any help would be appreciated.

Our tradition is to have homemade barbecue on Christmas. (That's pit-cooked pork for those not from 'round here!) DH, Dad, my uncles and cousins will stay up all night Friday cooking the meat. Grandma will make the barbecue sauce and hash and rice, and we'll have potato salad, cole slaw, probably some macaroni and cheese, sweet potato souffle, and green bean casserole. Desserts vary depending on what everybody feels like bringing, but Grandma always has a ton of homemade chocolate peanut butter balls, buttery finger cookies, and sausage balls. Maybe I'd better not eat again till Christmas Day!

I love these threads! :)

Well, usually we have turkey and all the trimmings, but this year my son and daughter in law are moving into their new house and both my husband and I have been dealing with a nasty chest cold so no big cooking going on this year. The kids will come over around 10am for presents and chatting and then we will just have come cold cuts, potato salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad, cheese and rolls. Some chips and dips for munchies. For dessert we have pumpkin pie and coconut custard pie.

We are doing Christmas Eve at my Mom's house and it is usually a bunch of appetizers, and she is making chicken cutlets and meatballs so everyone can make a hero if they want.

Christmas Day is our day at home. We usually have quiche, cinnamon rolls and fruit in the morning while opening presents.

Dinner will be

Spinach Dip with pumpernickle bread
Antipasto
Crab stuffed mushrooms
Cheese and crackers

I ordered today a filet mignon roast wrapped in bacon-never made this before
Gravy
Twice baked potatoes
Candied carrots
Salad with homemade blue cheese dressing
Dinner Rolls
Lots of wine!!!

Mini Italian pastries
some other desert

Eeesh!! It is me, Dh, and my 2 boys, the baby is not old enough to eat yet. And my parents are coming for dinner right before they leave for Disney.
SOME NERVE!!!!! I am sooooo jealous.

I am going to need a serious diet after this food fest!!

So far pot roast and mashed potatos - haven't decided the rest

Okey go Sam's Club buy a spiral ham cooked it for 2 hours and done.

Sam's ham is precooked only how to heated it up for about 2 hours. Trusted me it's idiot proof. I have been during this for a while now this is a very easy ham to cook.

I Queen the of idiot proof cooking. lol

Can't answer for this year as we are eating two meals and I am not cooking either of them. Meal #1 will be with my inlaws midday and meal #2 will be at night with my family. I am assuming there will be turkey at #1 and roast beef at #2, but beyond that I am really not sure. I am just really happy that I am not cooking either. I am however baking, I am making a cheesecake, holiday cookies and apple pie, but that is all for me this year. :cool1:
