what is not to be missed in Orlando besides Disney and US

Would like to know what else there is to do outside of the parks. We have two days with nothing planned and would love to do something different other than the parks. Is there any "not to be missed" attractions to be seen?

I think the Downtown Disney area would be perfect to do. Going to all the different shops. Eating a Planet Hollywood.

Then after that do outlet mall shopping.

The International Drive area has plenty do as minture golf, and plenty silly crazy things to do.

Do a Google search for Orlando things to I bet find plenty in two days.

Downtown Disney is good for a few hours. You could get a tour to the Space Center (Cape Canaveral/Kennedy) which is a great choice. You also left Seaworld off your list. A drive to Daytona Beach would also be fun. Plenty of distractions on International Drive.

I think Sea World is a great option. They are offering a 2nd day free with the purchase of a one day ticket or better than that you can get a Fun card for the same price as a one day ticket that allows you to have unlimited visits until December 31, 2003. There are lots of shows and a water playground that you could spend lots of time at.

Thank you to those who replied. I failed to mention that we will be spending a day at Seaworld. I have three boys ages 9, 12 & 15 so if this helps with any other ideas it would be appreciated. I heard there is a Ripley's museum. Is this any good?
Can we do Disney Quest even though we are not doing the Disney park itself? If so, do we have to pay to park and is it hard find? Can I buy those tickets in advance and can you get a discount anywhere? Thank you in advance.

Disney Quest is located at DTD on the West Side. There is free parking at DTD and it's easy to spot - huge building "Disney Quest" written right on the outside. There are discounts around for Disney Quest admission. I know my Birnbaum's guide has coupons but I've seen them elsewhere also. Maybe someone else can give you more specifics on where to get the coupons. It's alot of fun - Enjoy!

May I suggest going to Kobè? It's a japanese heibachi restraunt. The fun is the people cooking making big flames & quick knivery! It's a little pricey, but quite worth it!

I think maybe we'll do Disney Quest. I first have to talk my husband into it. We did it 4 years ago and my boys loved it. I did go into the Ticketmania website and saw how much the tickets were. $24 for adults and $20 for children. If you have any info concerning these tickets and how legit it is, I would appreciate it. I'm always apprehensive about ordering things over the net. Also, do you think this is the cheapest we can get the tickets? Thank you so much for your help.

Just sent you a PM on how to get these cheaper. But on the public board, I'd like to see other people share thoughts on Ticketmania. I've used them multiple times and never, ever had a problem. And I've read all good, no bad about them here. As for cheapest you can get the tickets, several bucket houses do this type of stuff (Paramount is another), and I check them all, but right now, the info I sent you is for the cheapest I've ever seen DisneyQuest tickets. Bought two of them myself three weeks ago.

If you do take advantage of the special seaworld pricing, try to go at night. We went in at about 6PM. Park was only open until 9 or 10 PM. We really enjoyed the low crowds, and the evening shamu show is not to be missed. It is nice to get to a park as all the crowds of people are dragging there way back to their cars. This works best if you have had a relaxing day up to this point.

Just to answer the Ticketmania question. I have used them twice with absolutely no problems. I bought park hoppers last year and got them in the mail within a few days.

Also we made a last minute decision to do Disney Quest. I was looking for cheaper tickets. I found the address for Ticketmania and went right over there. They even gave me the Mousesavers rate when I went in! They were great!!
