What is meant by "Island Wear?"

DH and I just received a wedding invitation for a girl from his work. It is a very pretty invitation with palm trees and a beach scene on it. At the bottom it says "Proper attire is required, please arrive in your favorite Island Wear."

I will be having DH check with her about exactly what that means but thought you guys might come up with some suggestions.

Hawaiin shirt and sundresses maybe?

Anything you would wear on vacation to a more tropical place.

Suggestions from a beach bum:

Capris
Anything Linen
Sandals or strappy heels
A hat, probably straw and big brimmed
flowy shirts that aren't to clingy
Most of this stuff is probably going on sale any day now.

I also think that it would be an aloha shirt and a sundress or a mumu type-and mumu not meaning the ones that a grandma wears, but the Hawaiian dresses that they have that are in Hawaii.
Especially with the palm trees on the invitations, that's what I think it means.

If you can, I think that it would be most of the clothes made by Tommy Bahama, they have beautiful things, if you need something special. I also agree with the above posters that the items they suggested would be fine as well.

Ditto to Tommy Bahama. This can be sort of pricey so look at the stuff and find some other brand with a similar feel if you like. Our local stores have Tommy Bahama next to some less expensive things.

i love cabana wear! hilohatties is great by the way...my parents are going to Hawaii for vacation later this year and ordered matching cabana style shirts from hilohatties..they love them!
