We will be there on April 18th, which is the last "Mardi Gras". What can we expect? Will it be crowded?

It is a fun parade, where you can catch beads!

I don't know about crowds for your dates, we have always been early in March.

Crowds were not bad at all. It didn't seem to effect park crowd levels.

Around 4pm or so,entertainers dressed in Mardi Gras outfits hit the streets, there will be New Orleans style food booths, some New Orleans bands will play a small stage near the food. The parade is the big hit of the day with incredibly themed floats with people throwing beads from them. After the parade finishes or as it is finishing there will be a major concert on most Mardi Gras nights,if you want to be up front you pretty much have to give up on doing anything else as some groups might have people waiting to be up front from like 3-4pm,it gets incredibly crowded but at least they have two huge screens so if you're far away you can at least see what's going on.I probably have about 50 pounds of beads that I've caught at the parades over the years, yes I've kept them all.

Thanks! The parade sounds fun.

So, the park doesn't shut early and its not a separate ticketed event similar to that of the Christmas party at Disney?

This is our first visit...we have four days to play in the parks and we want to do it more at a leisurely pace.

Sounds like we can still do that and come away with some beads in the process!!

Nope, no separately ticketed event :thumbsup2

It's lots of fun! And of course, lots of beads. We brought a fancy string of beads from a stall too.

We have so many beads we have a vase full!

These pics are from February 2013. The concert that night was Lifehouse, who were good, but we liked the small-stage New Orleans acts even better!

They were great! My DS21 was jealous! :rotfl2:

(The concert was not planned on my part, just an added bonus!)
