In 2003, we went for two weeks in early July and LOVED IT!
Right after July 4th, there are a couple days when it is relatively uncrowded; all the fireworks fanatics have gone home! Then it picks up again.
But: get up early and you'll be fine. For the first couple hours, the weather is warm, but manageable, and the crowds are not overwhelming. Use FastPass and you can decrease your wait time significantly. Plan to leave the parks and relax at your hotel after lunch.
And plan to spend some time in the parks in the evenings -- it's great! Cooler, less crowded, and with all the lights, truly magical.
We're going back again for two weeks, this July, and can't wait.
Yeah, it's warm. Okay: HOT. But we live in NYC, where 90 degrees and 100% humidity is common in July. If I gotta sweat, I'd rather sweat with The Mouse!
