What is Indiana Jones like?

What is the age appropriateness of the ride? I know the height restriction -- and my DD6 makes it, but I'm not sure if it's child-appropriate? She also doesn't know anything about the movie.

We think it's pretty scary for a 6 yr old. - big head with glowing eyes, spiders, big snake coming at you, skeletons shooting arrows at you (you feel the air), bats. YIKES! :scared1: If she hasn't seen these types of movies, or isn't separating fact from fiction well yet, I would say probably not a good idea.

However, it is our favorite ride at DL as adults and miss it at WDW. Our boys first rode it at about age 8.

The drops on pirates are actually taller then 10 feet here are the stats for the drops: First Drop: Length - 52 feet Angle - 21 degrees Second Drop: Length - 37 feet Angle - 21 degrees

The first drop is actually the same as the splash mountain drop at 52-and-a-half foot drop at a 45-degree angle

However the pirates drop you fell more like you are on a slide then plunging down. And the pirates drop is completely in the dark.

oh.....my.......gawd.

Thanks for the response. We'll definitely skip it. If it was just a fast, bumpy chase ride, we'd go for it. But the rest of the stuff.... she cried in the Movie Ride at MGM! :confused3

Don't worry about those stats. I just read them and they made me scared to get on POTC... except I've already been on it. Either the stats are wrong, or I have no sense of perception...that drop was peaceful and short. I remember leaning back slightly, a slight breeze on my face, and total darkness. Except for the darkness, it felt like following my child down the slide on the playground.

Now Splash Mountain...I wouldn't dream of attempting that one...you couldn't pay me enough...

I've been on splash mountain... hence my less than enthused response to learning the stats. Just before the big drop I was babbling to my husband that he should promise to remarry after I died on the way down.

I didn't mean to scare anyone with the stats. I remember someone posted those on this board awhile ago and I couldn't believe it either. The difference is in the angles! Don't not go on the ride because of the stats it great and the drop does not feel like it is that high probably because you are sliding down!

I agree, For anyone still debating about POTC, if it were scary rollercoaster type of drop, they would have seatbelts and you wouldn't be aloud to take your babies on. I am a rollercoarster chicken, as I don't like drops (although I have been on Splash, BTMR, and Space Mountain) SO GO!!!
EDITED TO ADD: I did go on Indiana Jones, although I had my eyes closed most of the time(for some reason I have to ride new rides with my eyes closed. I know it's wierd). Anyway, it is jerky but it has a fun element to it. I'd go on again, with my eyes open :rotfl2:

Does Splash have a seatbelt?

No, Splash Mountain does not have a seatbelt, and it is a pretty big drop, but probably not enough to need one. The seats are in a way that something is very close to you though, so you do not feel like you are floating. :teeth:
