What is happening at MK with 15 closures right now?

At this time, 6:57pm Eastern -there are 15 rides/attractions Temporarily Closed at MK - what the heck is going on? Anyone there today with info?

We are local and there is a strong (but compact) thunderstorm passing through.

WeatherBug has sent me several lightning in the WDW area alerts, so I'm guessing storms in the area. Not sure about CoP and HoP (and Philharmagic), but for the outside ones they definitely close when lightning is in a certain radius.

We wondered the same thing.

The little yellow things around the MK indicate lightning.

A little while ago there were a lot more of them; apparently it’s winding down now.

I totally get it, if its weather related. But just concerned about closures like RnR has been more closed than open the last 4 days or so.

It was definitely weather related.

I was sitting outside the food court at PORFQ last night and there was a terrific lightning strike somewhere near and then the rain started. It went from ok to stormy in about 10 minutes. That was in the late afternoon

Even before Covid-19, they often closed early. They weren’t/aren’t as popular as some other attractions, so presumably not worth staffing later in the evening.

that makes me sad...I love them both! We haven't been since 2015, and I know we did them but can't remember what time of the day it was. I know we did CoP a few times because it was a favorite of both of my DDs and DH liked to nap there.

I hope HoP is open after 6 in July, that's my plan for right after a (hopeful) dinner ressie at LTT!

According to the Tip Board, Hall of Presidents stays open until the park closes at 11 pm, while Carousel of Progress does close an hour early at 10 pm.

The only thing that closes as early as 6 is Tom Sawyers Island.
