what is going on with disney busses???????

I guess gold status isn't everything it's cracked up to be, either. Your worst-case-scenario notwithstanding... tossing anecdotal and improbable (though not impossible as you've made abundantly clear :rotfl:) evidence into a discussion regarding the advantages of having a rental car over using buses borders on ridiculous. Most people understand that nothing in life, including car rentals, is guaranteed.

To wit, there's no guarantee any of us we'll be here tomorrow yet we're still posting and planning as if we will. And, guarantee or not, life is too short to take board posts so personally. Have a nice day! :hippie:

Here's to consistency!

I seem to recall this came up once before and someone indicated Mears does NOT run the Disney bus system..???

They most definitely do operate the busses there. I have talked to many bus drivers about this and they work for Mears. Mears owns and operates all the busses under contract with Disney unless they changed since Jan '09.

Haven't you noticed when they are short busses to the parks, a Mears bus shows up?

Next time you are there, have a chat with the drivers. You will find out a lot of interesting information on how things are run and what the drivers think. Pretty interesting.

Okay, you know who you are ;)

When driving the Disney inter-resort buses, do/did you work for Disney, or for Mears?

To the PP: simply because a Mears bus shows up at busy times does NOT mean they operate Disney's transportation system - and it is one entire system. There's not one company that owns/operates the boats while another company owns/operates the monorail while yet another company owns/operates the trams while a fourth company owns/operates the buses while even yet one more different company owns/operates the cars and vans. It's all owned by one company: Disney.

Mears only runs ME and the Disney Cruise Line busses. The internal transportation is owned and operated by Disney. The bus drivers, monorail drivers and boat captains are all Disney CMs.
