What is going on 2nd week of december? EPCOT resorts are full, even Swan/Dolphin

I am a vacation club member and have reservation December 6-14th. Extended family want to join us but I am having a hard time finding a room in the EPCOT resort area. Initially the plan was to stay with us at BCV but 9 people in a 2 bedroom villa is tight quarters so I'm trying to find my aunt and uncle a room. No studio villas available at BCV or BWV. Beach Club has no standard view left, yacht club only has concierge/club level, and Swan and Dolphin have NOTHING! Isn't this supposed to be a slow week at Disney! What am I missing??? Any suggestions?

How about standard view at BW? That is still available.

Well, Pop Warner starts like on the 7th but it's not likely they'll be staying in any of the rooms you mentioned. Did you check and see if it is a convention at YC or Swan/Dolphin?

Yes,there is a convention at swan and dolphin. They have some dates but not all. Yacht Club is completely unavailable.

I'm going Dec. 10-20. I tried getting BCV for the first five days. Impossible. However, all the reservations open up after December 15!
A friend of mine, a long time DVC owner, said that is always the case, first 2 weeks are busiest. I'm a member for only 3 years, but I haven't encountered this before.

Yikes! There is a convention there??? We just booked Dec. 13-16 at the Dolphin. Does anyone know what kind of convention?
