What is Flight of Passage?

I've been away from WDW boards as I've been more Disneyland focused (just returned). Am back now dreaming of our next trip, which won't be for a couple years. I notice a lot of posts on Flight of Passage. I see it a new thrill ride but what exactly does it do? Sounds like it's a popular FastPass+ selection?

It's a simulator ride at Animal Kingdom - Haven't ridden it yet because the shortest wait I saw while we were there last was 180 minutes. Got FP for November at day 60 +5

The best Disney ride I have ever been on (although Radiator Springs Racers is a close second).

It's like Soarin on steroids! You ride a bike-like vehicle which is your banshee and you're flying thru Pandora. It's very thirilling and very cool!!! One of the best rides there.

It is a simulator albeit a very good one. I don't like it nearly as much as many people here seem to. It was worth rope dropping but I'll probably steer clear of it until standby times become reasonable. I cant ride TOT or EE 5 times in the time it takes to standby FOP once. That wait is never going to happen.

It's either the best theme park ride in Orlando or several of vomit-inducing hype, depending on who you ask.

Well, it's also the NEWEST ride in WDW (along with Na'vi River Journey) so that is one reason why it is so popular. I also hear it is really great, but I haven't been on it yet. Both rides are part of World of Pandora at Animal Kingdom, which is based on James Cameron's Avatar.
