What is FALL BREAK and when is it?

I understand fall break as time off from school, but how long of a break is it? A few days, a week? Also, when is it - sometime in October? The schools in my city don't have a fall break so I'm not familiar with it? We're going in October and I want to avoid fall break if possible. Thanks!

my nephew fall breaks is in Sept - but most schools (that have this) are in Oct.

It generally last a week.

not all schools have this - the ones closes to WDW in Florida don't

Fall breaks are not nearly as common as Spring breaks. Every year, our school district does something different. In the last few years it has been a week, three days, two days, and this year was just one day (actually Columbus day, Oct 10th). Instead, they gave the kids the full week of Thanksgiving.

It would normally be the first week of October. I always thought it was a GREAT time to go. (See history below).

Our school has a "fall break" of about four days, including the weekend. We went to WDW - left Thursday (I took DD12 out of school a half day) and stayed through Monday. I think the dates were Oct. 14-17. We had a great trip!!!

It would be tough to determine a set week for fall breaks as they vary. Ours is the last full week of October. Other schools have one that coincides with Columbus Day. I have a cousin whose kids have one in late September. It seems to be getting to be a more popular time at WDW with MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Festival but we have been two years in a row and have enjoyed it tremendously. Very manageable crowds if you use fasptass and have a plan.

Fall Break is typically a southern school vacation week. Many districts coincide this week with Columbus Day, but others have the break after the first 9 week grading period. With the breaks staggered, there is no 1 week in October to avoid. We have gone each of the past 2 years and have found it very manageable with fastpass.

We had a fall break this year for the first time. It was a full week in mid-October.
It was a fabulous time to visit WDW. The crowds were definitely a little higher than we expected but very manageable (we are used to going in July or August).
