What is effected by conventions at CSR?

Is there anything I should be thinking about if there is a convention at the hotel while we are there?

For example are buses more crowded? Is the pool more crowded? Restaurants?

We will be there during a week long convention and I am trying to figure out if this will effect our stay at all!

Thanks!

It didn't effect our stay at all last September. If anything, I thought the public areas were less crowded - maybe the meetings were all in session.

We never found the Pepper Market to be overly crowded. Maybe if you're there at the height of breakfast before the meetings it would be more so, but if we weren't up early and in the parks, we took lazy mornings. So we didn't have an issue.

I felt the same way about the pools. Many times, we were the only ones in the Ranchos quiet pool. And, when other guests were using it, they were clearly families as well.

The bus stops always seemed very empty but we had transportation so I can't really comment reliably about this.

I feel like the only time I noticed conventioners was when I was in the pool and they were returning to rooms late afternoon. I remember feeling bad for them!

My daughter was there last week with her husband for a convention. She said she felt sorry for the tourist because in the morning the conventioneers took up all of the seating at the Pepper market. She said there wasn't even any seating outside. Other than that she didn't see any impact. Most of the conventioneers brought family who spent the days at the parks or pool.

The main thing that gets impacted could be the Pepper Market. It can be busy but so would any resort eatery during the lunch and dinner times. The buses and pool are less crowded.

Pics of lifeguards playing with kids at the pool and opening ceremony.

We were there last week during some ocean convention and the only time we saw them was at 11pm in the hot tub. There were only about 5-7 of them and they were not loud or roudy. Didn't bother us at all. If anything, it felt less crowded because they were always in meetings!

Yes, that hot tub can get crowded with the conventioneers. When we were there, it was a convention for my husband's porfession although he wasn't at the convention, we were jsut there on vacation. During the hot tub session, he had a great time listening to a woman who make herself to be an "expert" in the field. She really didn't know anything about what she was talking about.

We did come up with a game to play, though. Anytime you spot a conventioneers with their name tag on outside the convention center, you get five points. Spot a person with a name tag on and talking on the cell phone, you get ten points. Spot a person with a name tag on, talking on the cell phone and carrying the official conference materials, you get twenty points. You can get huge points with just one flock of conventioneers coming towards you.

Only effect I saw was to the bar area in the late evening...lots of conventioneers socializing.

Pepper Market can be crowded for certain time slices.

Nothing that hampered the enjoyment of the resort however.

Sooooooooooo...... what'd ya win?????????:lmao:

BTW.... we've been to CSR 4 times while conventions were going on....
It actually was nice... they don't go to the parks...therefore no one on the buses. They ususally have dinner catered, (except maybe breakfast) so, no one at the Pepper Market (at least the times we've gone). If they do hit the pool, it for like 30 minutes till the next "meeting".

I guess it might get crowded in the lounge in the evening, but we don't hit the lounge. :goodvibes

We are SO doing that! Sounds hilarious, we leave on Saturday. Usually I'm the one stuck in a convention and I always grabbed my nametag off and stuck it in my pocket and wouldn't use the bag or backpack that they gave us. It will be great to see other people that have to go to meetings and I get to play! :rotfl:

Hmmm, I think the prize will be who gets to choose what to do the last day since I don't have it scheduled.
