DVC= Disney Vacation Club. It's Disney's version of a timeshare. There's a whole board dedicated to DVC here... as far as "points" - basically, members own a certain number of points for the year. Nights at DVC resorts cost x-number of points per night.
Sometimes members "rent" their points to non-members if they don't plan on using them or want to make some money back - it's a great way for non-members to save money on resort stays. For example, two summers ago we had a studio room in BWV for about $160 per night, half of the cost of the same room had we booked directly through Disney. Now we're thinking of buying DVC for ourselves in the future.
The DVC boards can give you waaaay more information.
P.S. I just noticed you're about to go to WDW - there are kiosks everywhere with info on DVC. You can also take a tour of the model rooms.
