Hey,

I really wanted to go on the Jurassic Park River ride at IOA but chickened out as i heard that it was an 85ft drop att he end.

Then i saw the Dudley falls drop - my gosh - how big was that drop in feet? I took one look and felt sick!

So when we went to Magic Kingdom the following day, Splash Mountain's drop looked much smaller - at 52ft.

So i made myself go on Splash Mountain. I didn't like the final drop or the drop in the dark but was proud that i had done it.

IOACentral.com says it's a 75 foot drop and that Jurassic Park River Adventure has an 85 foot drop.

i can't believe that it is 10 feet smaller that Jurassic Park River Ride - if i ever go back i really wanted to try Jurassic Park!

But is Dudley Falls steeper? - it must be?!

I don't know which is steeper. We've only been on each once, but will pay attention when we go next week.

I think Dudley Do-Right is steeper, or at least it seems steeper. The final drop is curved, so it seems like you're going to fly out of the log.

According to IOACentral.com

Duddley-

The finale is a 75 foot plunge that goes from a 60 degree angle to a 51 degree angle.

River Adventure

The ride culminates in an 85 foot drop. ( no angle given)

Actually, JP's angle is about 50 degrees, and Ripsaw changes from 45 to 50.

IOATech, am I right?

they are both at IOA - i didn't realise that jurassic park was that steep - i thought that manybe dudley falls were steeper.

GULP!

Never realised JP was steeper probably because u feel safer in the raft than in that canoe but don't forget journey to atlantis is pretty steep as well at sea world:p

Certainly seems steeper which one has the longest drop?:)

JP is still tallest: 85 ft. Then Dudley at 75 ft. Then Atlantis- 65 ft.

You are right, DM. The final drop is pretty close to 45' but without a straight line it's hard to pin down. The height is 76 feet which was at the time the record for a flume ride. JP is not classified as a flume ride. Speed has been measured at 45 mph. The drop is designed to simulate the feeling of flying out of the vehicle but at no time is it mathematically possible to "fly out". On Rip, you gain more speed through the dynamic drop than JP's more defined drop.

What is JP classified as? What qualifies as a "flume ride"? I always figured that Dudley DoRight was a "water coaster" since the drop was on a track (which is how it's able to change steepness), the same as Atlantis.

I thought a flume ride was like Stanleyville Falls at Busch Gardens Tampa.

Flume ride, water coaster, steep drop, steeper drop it doesn't matter both JP and Dudley still manage to scare the crud out of me every time no matter which one is taller, I'm still screaming like crazy in the JP picture.
