What is Disney Springs??

It's an awful new name for Downtown Disney :P

Really dislike the new one. Nothing "Spring-y" about it.

I think the final plans call for a bunch of streams, or Springs, in the landscaping. But that's nowhere near being done - they've barely started construction on some of the buildings.

The new acronym should be DSp.

That said, what is Disney Springs? Shopping, dining, some entertainment. It seems to me, more of the restaurants are going to be signature type restaurants, which could appeal to local crowds for date nights etc. There will of course be those who really want to have good cuisine that they can't find elsewhere on property. The stores include a mix of Disney branded and of course the other stores, typically boutique, and may not be found in all areas of the country, or at least in smaller metropolitans.

I have to agree, not a great choice, so it's no wonder the OP asked "what is Disney Springs?" Sounds like the sister resort to Saratoga Springs, or Coronado Springs. Way too many springs!:confused3 'Downtown Disney' was self explanatory.
By the way, after reading this thread I am now too paranoid to use any abbreviations.:rotfl2:

DS for Disney Springs instead of "Disney son"

There's no need to abbreviate and include "Disney" or "dear" in front of wife, husband, son, daughter, etc. Idk who started all that but it's somewhat rather weird.

You can see those water features already completed and just waiting for the nearby buildings to be finished and to be filled with water in construction pictures posted online or from the escalator in the orange parking garage.I think I also saw a bridge over some of these empty springs as I grabbed a peek though a wall over by Morimoto.

I cant wait to see this all finished. the area really needed some updating

I see DD and think about geeks and dice...
Dunkin' Donuts. It's on my mug, so it's official...

Yeah I just do that on my signature because I see a lot of others here doing that, but I've always found it to be kinda dumb too. I still think Disney Springs will be terrible just like Downtown Disney was, in my opinion. But I do want to get to DisneyQuest before it closes (is it still supposed to be next summer that it closes?)

Disney Springs = DTD = a big outdoors mall.

Totally thought DS, DW, DD, DH meant Disney Son, Disney Wife, Disney Daughter, etc...............how did i survive on the boards this long:confused3

It can mean that. I started using it on a wedding planning board, so it's "dear" in my mind. And if you're annoyed with someone, the D can mean something else, too.

It's a message board thing, and it has been going on since before 2001, since that's when I joined a wedding planning message board (or two) and it was in full force then!

it's common on message boards all over the internet for years, not just here.

Would you have preferred Hyperion Wharf, when they were trying to figure out what way to go with the refurb of DTD this was the name that was given to the complex if they decided to go with those plans.I don't have a big problem with the names Disney Springs or Hyperion Wharf but I am glad they didn't go with the plans for Hyperion Wharf,at least Disney Springs has a story and will be adding like 75 stores and restaurants.Hyperion Wharf's additions did not look very impactful, more like a redesign instead of major new additions Disney Springs is getting.
75 more places to spend more money...would love more attractions!
