Is Delta Eliminating basic economic seats???
I have been looking online for my flight in March 2020(21-26, 2 Adults)for the last 4 days and this is what's showing.

The Basic Economic seat are no longer showing from FNT(flint) to MCO( Orlando).
And from DTW(Detroit)to MCO(Orlando) is showing sold out on every flight that day.
Did not check out Grand Rapids yet - if anyone knows if this is happening there please chime in.

So I called Delta and they state those seat are not available in that Democratical area.
When I asked the agent to explain what that meant, she stated not available in that area.
Prices are over $880 to 2,000 per person. Thinking there's got to be a glitch in the system or is that really the price

It appears to be sold out. I tried a different set of dates from Flint to MCO and see they are available. Is that around Easter vacation and/or some special event being held? Typically, it makes sense to buy your airline tickets sooner then later to popular destinations since you are seeing what happens once the lowest prices seats are gone.

All of those flights connect thru Atlanta and the smaller aircraft used from Flint don't have as many seats available.

Delta usually only has their reservation system set up around six months out. They might be showing flights, but they aren't available to book yet.

I know they will have flights out of Detroit. That's where I fly from to Orlando. You are just a bit too early!! Try around the 1st or so of September.

^^ Online clearly shows that flight can already be booked, just the lowest price tickets are already gone. Waiting until Sept won't change that.

Are the tickets gone, I know when I've tried to book "Basic Economy" it used to show not available, and then certain days they would be available for booking. I just went thru this for our flight for August 13th, 2019.

What? Delta allows you to book up to 11 months in advance not 6 months.

Nope. They allow booking 331 days in advance (like most legacy airlines).

I have know idea what's going on. Called twice and got 2 different answers.
1) they are no longer available in our area. I don't believe that.
2)My second call the guy could not understand why the seats were not available.
Looks like I'll have to change my hotel dates.

As many others have mentioned, Delta does a rolling 330 (or 331) days for flight releases. March 2020 is definitely available to book. Detroit is one of Delta's minor hubs IIRC.

Detroit to Orlando:

Detroit to Orlando Delta only:

Flint to Orlando (Delta Only):
422828
Flint to Orlando all airlines:
422829

I don't see anything close to $2Kpp. I'm generally loyal to Delta too, but American is $200 cheaper pp from both Flint and Detroit.

I hope they have the flights out of Detroit that you want, but as for 6 months out, that's not true. In July of this year, I booked a flight to and from Orlando in late April 2020 with no problems. Just keep looking and you might get lucky! Just to see what I could see, I ran your dates in March 2020 from LGA to MCO and it still said sold out for basic economy.

The OP is referring to a price for one specific flight time which takes nearly 7.5 hr to arrive due to stopping in Minneapolis which wouldn't be my preferred choice of flights. If you lock yourself into a specific departure time, that price is correct. HOWEVER, there are MANY other cheaper flights on that same day for Delta.

As post #11 shows above, you should use the various airline search engines to find the best price/departure times/airline/airport....etc.

There are many other departures, including some non-stops for MUCH lower prices.........

That is prime Spring Break time so I can believe that a lot of flights to MCO are booked. You are also flying on two of the more expensive days going Sat-Thurs.

In fairness, that $251'AA flight has a 13 hour layover :D

True, but the $266 flight from Detroit doesn't.

This is the problem with looking only at a specific time. Sure, the 9:55a flight is a better time, but that's why the cost is so much. Personally, I'd do either the AA flights or the 6:15a Delta flight. A) The cost is much lower, B) three hours after departure, you're in Florida. The 9:55 flight is 7 1/2 hours? No brainer.

I’d believe it. I tracked Delta flights for my April dates for 2 years. BOS-MCO RT non-stop Highest I saw was $500 per person so we budgeted that would sometimes drop to $350. Watch flights for almost 6 weeks this year and they started at $750 and never went below that but did go as high as $1250. We ended up booking out of PWM for April for $430 each with layover at JFK. Crazy prices and I was thankful that I found a do able option in our budget.
