What is Crockett's Tavern?

We're staying at FW in August for the first time so I've been trying to find out all I can. The DDP brochure on the WDW site lists Crockett's Tavern as a TS credit for dinner. I've looked on several sites and can't find any menu listed, just that they have pizza, chicken wings, etc. available for take out. :confused3

Has anyone been there recently and can tell me what it's like? I'm trying to plan our meals for the free DDP. Thanks!

Crockett's Tavern is connected to the Trail's End Buffet. They have a full bar, along with appetizers and pizza in the evenings. I wouldn't use a TS there for dinner there though - since the menu is very limited.

We do Crockets Tavern for dinner alot on the first night. Just pizza and apps. Great food, and relaxing. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

There are tables and chairs down by the beach, there are also chairs on the porch outside the tavern.

Thanks! We plan on eating there on our next trip. On our last trip, we went to the Hoop Dee Doo and my daughter loved the fried chicken. Hoping that the chicken is similar. :teeth:

i don't think you can get the fried chicken (like at the hoop dee doo) at Crockets Tavern. (they just have pizza and chicken wings - like appitizers)

but you can get that same fried chicken as the hoop dee doo at the Trails End Buffett that is smack inbetween the Pioneer Hall (where the Hoop Dee Doo is) and Crockets Tavern.

IMHO Trails end is the best buffet bang for your buck on WDW property. You can get take out from there too. When we camp, at least one night i get one adult take out meal from the Trails End. they give you one large take out container and you can fill that sucker up. as long as it closes. I stuff it full of chicken and take it back to the campsite for all (4) of us to share along with some chips or potato salad that we have in our camping grub supplies.

Yes the chicken is good ,you can get it to go at Trails End. It is called Giddy-up and Go, 10 pieces chicken fries cole slaw + biscuits 19.99 or white meat 24.99. Then sit on porch and enjoy.

That is our tradition also. But I was very disappointed in December by the new set-up for check-in. We loved that you could always find a table right away at Crocket's Tavern, unlike the big crowds at Trail's End. Not so anymore. :sad2: Since they combined check-in for both restaurants at one central location, we were looking at a 30 minute wait. We were starving after setting up camp and really didn't want to wait that long. We wound up heading to the campfire and getting a hot dog there. We tried a couple of times after that during our stay, but there always seemed to be a wait. I really didn't like the change.

How sad. Seams like alot of changes going on. We always went after setting up, soon after they open at 4:00. Always sat our selfs.

I have not been to either Trails End or Crockets Tavern. Thanks for the clarification on the chicken. The 1 adult take out sounds like a good idea!

NHcampers - The Giddy-Up and Go sounds perfect for our family. :disrocks:
