What is Counter Service exactly?

We have the DP for our upcoming trip, and I know I'll research it at some point, buy you guys are the best to ask!!

WHat qualifies as a CS? We have all our ADR"s for dinner, because I'm a meiser and want to squeak every penny out.

Is CS really a full lunch?

What would it include?/

Counter Service meals are any of those that you walk up to the counter, place your order and wait to get your meal on a tray basically. Places like Cosmic Ray's or Pecos Bill's in MK, Electric Umbrella or Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT, that sort of thing.

On the DP, a CS meal for an adult means either an entree and side or a combo meal (think double cheeseburger and fries), a dessert and a drink + tax. For the kids, they need to order from the kids menu, which is generally the meal (like nuggets) with 2 sides (grapes, applesauce), a dessert (which I have heard have been expanded to include pudding or a cookie) and a drink + tax.

Many people feel that Sunshine Seasons offers a great variety of items that are available for CS. If you're anywhere near Coronado Springs, their CS restaurant is much like a table service with the variety available.

We're big fans of Columbia Harbor House, for the fish and chicken. Also, there are a few places where there are no "kids" meals so the kids can order the same as the adults (Casey's at MK, Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM).

Some of the CS places offer things like a Chicken and ribs combo dinner which is certainly a full meal. It pays to check the menus of the various counter service places.

Just remember that not all CS may haven a side. I can't count the number of times I've seen people arguing that they're supposed to get a side with every CS. Not True! If something is listed in the menu by itself without a side, then you don't get a side on the DDP either. examples=Earl of Sandwich-you get just a sandwich, dessert, and fountain drink, bakery in France you get a sandwich or a fruit/cheese plate, a dessert, and a med drink, at Casey's some people post getting a side with their hot dog, but most say they didn't get one (and I know we didn't last Sept). Some places that have pizza you get only a pizza, but others you can get a salad with that pizza. Every restaurant is different, but their menus are clearly marked.

CS meal is described as:

1 Counter Service meal including entrée, dessert and single serving non-alcoholic beverage or 1 complete combo meal, dessert and single serving non-alcoholic beverage
