Hello: While at port orleans saw the bonnett creek resort. For those that have stayed there how is it?

Deb.

We'll be back there in a couple weeks. It really is a beautiful resort and the location and space can't be beat.

The units (2, 3 or 4 bedroom) are all brand new, very spacious, and well equipped. The resort has a couple pools, lazy river, etc.. There is a place to buy snacks and drinks by one of the pools along with a little gift shop/market place for essentials.

It is a timeshare resort owned by Wyndham, so there is no maid service if that is important to you.

You can see pictures which are truly representative of the place at www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com or just www.bonnetcreek.com.

Hope this helps!

Bonnett Creek is nice, it's Wyndham's Flagship hotel. It really just depends on what you are used to. We normally stay at the new Hilton Grand Vacations on International Drive, so we was disappointed with Bonnet Creek. It really is a very nice place, just was not what we had expected. Also we found it confusing to get back to the hotel at night

LilRooster - It's actually a timeshare resort not a hotel. That's why there is no daily maid service.

It is actually located next door to the Caribbean Beach Resort...so it's pretty much onsite...but not an onsite hotel. In other words it is not a Disney property. Very easy commute to the parks as well as Downtown Disney and the Boardwalk area.

I agree. It's one of my favorite resorts in the area. It's not Disney-owned but Bonnet Creek has regularly scheduled free shuttles to the Disney parks and Downtown Disney, about every 30 minutes in the mornings and evenings, less frequently during the afternoons.

The resort itself is really lovely, IMO - lots of deluxe amenities and fun activities for all ages, even a computer room with 4 computers and one of the pool areas has a poolslide. Some upper floor units have a balcony view that includes the Epcot ball and fireworks. We've found it easy to drive there by following road signs for the Caribbean Beach Resort or Typhoon Lagoon - it's located between them.

Hello all that replied: How does one book a stay at the bonnet creek resort if it is a timeshare? I'm not going now but will in the future, (year or two) so I would like to find out what steps people take to rent one of the units.

Thanks,

Deb.

The restaurant situation there is pretty poor---and will be at least until the hotels on the parcel open.

We're looking onto purchasing into Bonnet Creek, but we can only afford to purchase the points used. What is VIP status? I know that we can't access it if we purchase used but what are we giving up? Also, how much generally do you pay for your timeshare fees (i.e) 158 000 points = ?? 300 000=?? 500 000 = ?? Also, with the fairfield 'fair share' program, can you not just convert your points right over anyway? Thanks for all of the help! :wizard:

CDNGAL - Please do not even think about buying direct from Wyndham. You will pay WAY too much. Check out www.tug.net. It is the timeshare users group. It has a wealth of information.

Apparently, you can buy Wyndham points for literally pennies. What will cost you $25,000 through Wyndham can cost you less than $2000 resale. A point is a point. It doesn't matter where you've bought it from.

To the poster who asked about the restaurant. There is a basically a pool bar/snack bar at one of the pools where they make the usual sandwiches/burgers. No sit down restaurant however.

In addition to TUG, anyone considering purchasing wyndham would do well to read the Wyndham Primer at

forums.atozed.com

(This is a Wyndham owners' group.)

The general consensus is that VIP benefits are not worth anything near what you would have to pay to obtain them. Worse, they are changing every year, and usually for the worse.

Buy Wyndham Fairshare Plus Points (often called FSP) resale and you will be getting one of the great bargains in all of timesharing. Most go for $.02 or less on resale so you can buy 250,000 - 300,000 annual for $6000 or less - maybe much less. With those you could stay at virtually any Wyndham property, anytime and most any size/style unit. No need for VIP as all that does is save you some points (and get you may a "free" newspaper and an extra hour or two at check in/ check out) for tens of thousands of dollars more. it would take two lifetimes to make it pay off IF the benefits remained the same (and they have been steady eroding the value of the "perks" of VIP).

We have been happy Wyndham (was Fairfield) owners for over 12 years - 256,000 resale points - and have stayed where we wanted, when we wanted and for a very reasonable overall cost. Old resorts - new resorts - highest demand periods, discounted times - we've had no problems getting what we wanted as a point is a point in the system and that cannot be changed. Jump in & you'll most likely like it too.

Our stay at Bonnet Creek a couple of weeks ago convinced me that I'm probably going to purchase Wyndham Fairshare Plus Points in the future. Right now, I get my stays off ebay so cheaply that it doesn't make sense for me to own, but when I retire in a few years, I plan to travel much more, and I'm going to look into it then.

As for the OP, we loved our stay there. In my case, I purchased off ebay. I paid $90 a night for a 2BR/2BA, but the owner I bought from actually sold the same unit for a week's stay just before Christmas for $300, so there are tremendous bargains out there.

We requested fireworks view and watched the fireworks from Magic Kingdom and Epcot from our balcony each night. The units are very upscale, and the property is gated. There is some construction going on right now, but it didn't interfere with us at all. There was live music by the pool each night. The gameroom had pool tables, etc.

Someone already mentioned the computer room, but they were having internet problems when we were there, so it wasn't very useful. The beds in the 2nd BR were a little firm for my taste, but not a big deal.

We booked breakfasts at Boma and Kona, so we got our taste of the resorts but also had plenty of room and were very comfortable.

I would also like to know how to book a room there. I've been searching and just come up with an email address.....do I need to email them to get quote:confused3

You'll get cheaper prices if you rent through an owner (I went through a VIP owner on ebay). You can check with Ken Price (he's been mentioned several times by other Dis members who have gone through him and gotten good deals).

Try this thread. I think think the information to reach Ken Price is in my post #14.

Apparently, the rates on his site aren't firm, because some of the posts that I've read on here had much better rates than listed on the site.

Others can give you information about the Tug site. I don't know much about it.

So do I need to buy from Wyndham or Fairfields? Or are they the same company?? :confused3 Also, what if I bought at say Wyndham in Georgia, are these just as easy to convert over to BC? What about the new tower that is going in- can you stay there with used points? Thanks onc again! :)

You don't by "from Wyndham"! You buy on the open resale market.

And, don't be in a rush to buy anything. Take your time. At a minimum, read the Primer I pointed to above---it will answer these questions, and a lot more that you wouldn't have thought to ask, but need to know the answers to.

Whoops! Sorry I meant to say can I buy resale from Whyndam only and then convert to BC? For the same benefits? Do they give priority to resale BC people or does it matter? Also I haven't logged on yet b/c in order to read the info. you must submit your email and I don't want any unwanted emails later on from them. I give my email out sparingly! Have you received things through email? Thanks once again!

No, resales come from other owners/brokers NOT Wyndham/Fairfield (Fairfield was their old name). You buy FSP points based at a resort - if you want owner priority (reserve at 13 months or less) then you'd buy points based at BC which also sets where you vote an what your annual fees will be. Or you use points based at any Wyndham resort to stay at BC (or any other Wyndham Resort or Affiliate) at the 10 month or less mark. We've never had any problems getting any resort at 10 months (had we tried for the Seawatch group in summer at Myrtle Beach that may not have been the case - but that seems to be the only one with a problem due to demand). The advantage to having points based at a particular resort may be lower fees BUT that can change year to year. Take it into consideration but don't base a purchase strictly on annual fees or you may get burned long term. There are no guarantees with annual fees. Take your best shot with that. We have found owning even Wyndham FSP points are best at a resort we can drive to gives us an option and a comfort level. We also insist on deeded ownerships.
