Didn't hold my yard sale today since it looked liked rain but the rain never came.

Will reschedule but what days of the week do you think is best. Friday and Saturday? Saturday and Sunday? Or just Saturday? Thanks for your opinion.

Yard sales are not as popular as they once were around me. But most people seem to have them on Saturday. If it rains, Sunday becomes the rain date.
Same situation here, not as popular as they once were. Most folks hold them on Friday and Saturday it seems.

They are not as popular as they used to be by me. The few people having them are having them on Saturday mornings. The hours seem to 7-11 or 8-12. People seem to stop at the ones with antique furniture (real wood furniture) and there are no cars at the ones with all the plastic kids toys and baby stuff. My neighbor had one and said the only thing they really sold was their old patio set. I was debating having one but after talking to them I’ll just donate the stuff.

I’ve never seen a garage sale on a Friday. Most people are at work.
The Thursday/Friday shoppers, this IS their work. They buy at garage sales and resell on E-Bay, Craig's List, and Facebook market place or sell themselves on Saturday at the flea markets. When I had an "estate" sale after my mom passed away these folks tried to get you to sell them stuff the day before, and on Friday I had one guy come up and offer me $200 for everything on one table.
Checking Craig's List right now, out of the 24 Garage sales on the first page for my area, 11 started on Friday.

Donating is so much easier.
I agree. I have only been involved in two garage sales, both estate sales, one for my mom and one for my mil. Never again. The work and the stress were just too much. We did have an Estate Liquidator come to my MIL's house and he said ihs business is all in expensive furniture and artwork not old Tupperware, appliances and clothing. He was talking, items he could resell for $10,000 or more.

Interesting. It’s not like that at all around me. Nobody really advertises. Maybe a sign will go up the night before on a pole. That’s about it. There doesn’t appear to be any re-sellers showing up. Hardly anybody even bothers to stop by.

But from what I’ve seen, most of the stuff people sell at a garage sale is crap anyways. If it’s worth anything, most people will try to sell it themselves on the internet.

I haven't shopped yard sales in forever. I remember Saturday mornings were the standard, although Friday + Saturday was not uncommon. (at least in small town Illinois)

I remember the thrill of the chase on Saturday mornings, get that newspaper, circle and number the ads and plan the route. The finale was always Egg McMuffin and coffee at McDonald's.

I have only hosted ONE, and I can honestly say I would never do it again. I did it with my mother in-law (at the time). It was a lot of work and hassle, to make $30. Shopping is a lot more fun than hosting.

*I must also qualify this by saying my yard sale experience is from the 90's, things could have changed by now.

Around here it’s Thursday & Friday or Thursday - Saturday.

When I did my garage sales it was always Thursday - Saturday.
Thursday and Fridays - normal price
Saturday was 50% off - I told people this after they paid.

Nothing went back in the house, so Saturday was only in the morning so anything left could go to the thrift store before they closed 🙂👍🏻

Our HOA holds them twice a year and always on Saturday. We put things out at the last one and had lots of people and did well, even though we were the only ones on our street and at the end of a dead end street. I'm sure others that had things out on busier streets did better

Me too! Back in the 80s with my mom and grandma. :goodvibes

I love going to yard sales, but hate having them myself.

To the original question - my DH's Lodge holds a flea market in the summer, and IIRC, they do 8-4 on Saturday and 8-2 on Sunday.

Our HOA does them twice a year as well, but ours are Saturday and Sunday each time. I have not participated, but most of our former neighbors did. I haven’t noticed if the new neighbors do or not.

Our community does an annual garage sale. They make a map of all the participating houses. The map is given out at a local realty office. It's always Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is rock-bottom prices -- things priced to sell.
