What is availability one month out?

We just made an offer to buy resale and the seller agreed on our offer. If everything works out and we pass ROFR we will be set to close sometime in Mid August. The wife and I are planning a weekend get away October 6th - 10th of this year. Our home resort will be AKV, but if its not available one month out what are the chances of another DVC resort being available for these dates?

That is a really busy time and I believe that I read a post that others have had difficulty, even now, booking something for that time frame.

Of course, you never know and it also depends on what type of room you need and whether or not you are willing to move resorts.

Congratulations!

We are willing to move resorts but just wondering if there will be any availability anywhere.

Isn't that also Colombus Day weekend? With F&W you will not know until you call. Logically SSR & OKW might have something. Good luck. I too have seen posts where folks are having a tough time for the beginning of October.

As DVC owners we are not eligible for free dining are we? Sorry to hijack your thread here.

We are not eligable for free dining.

When I booked for dates included in yours (a studio) 2 months ago- SSR was the only one available for all 3 nights at the same place. OKW had 2 nights in 2 different categories and AKV had all 3 of the nights in 3 different categories. I am waitlisted for WL but not really expecting it to come through. If you really want to come that weekend I would have a cash back-up plan.

It doesn't hurt to try, you won't know until you do :goodvibes; availability may open up a bit just prior to around 31 days out because those who currently have reservations that they may not be able to keep would be faced with their points going into Holding status if they cancel at less than 31 days.

Good luck & hope you'll post back how things turn out :)

Another idea that I have and don't know if its even possible, but maybe someone here would know. Is it possible to have the current owner/seller make a reservation in our names now? When we go through closing will Disney still honor the reservation?

I saw on another post that someone was looking for Oct 2 to 9 and it was soldout everywhere.

DVC members can get free dining if you pay the full cash rate of the room and buy at least a 2 day ticket. Book through CRO.

All reservations are cancelled when an ownership is being sold - not sure if it's at closing or before - maybe when it goes to Disney for ROFR? Closing would be my guess, though.

I think it will be hard, and you may not get anything. When we bought, in September one year, we bought direct and even at the beginning of September there was nothing left over Halloween weekend. I remember one year we felt very lucky to get a studio in OKW for October when we booked 2 months out.

Since you have to cancel before 30 days out in order for the points to not become "holding" points, there should be some activity at that point, but from the posts here there are plenty of people on waitlists.

I offer you pixie dust and hope you get something. :wizard: I would book something for cash if you really want to go! That's more easily cancelled.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Nothing available for that time frame in October - tried myself recently. As anything opens up, it will go to the waitlists that are in existence for those dates. (I did not sign up for one).

You will find that 4 months out (the time frame I tried to reserve in) is extremely difficult for a popular time like that which has Food and Wine, the Halloween Party and a holiday weekend (Columbus Day) involved. You really need to plan these times prior to 7 months before. I know this but tried anyway, lol.

Good luck and perhaps you can come up with an alternate choice.

No, at the time of closing all booked reservations from the account are cancelled.

If you check out the availability thread, link above, you'll see that October 10th is booked everywhere. The above thread is based on information people here at the DIS report, so there may be more dates that are not available at OKW than shown.

I would say your chances are very low for getting a villa for all of the dates you mentioned. It's possible you might be able to get some of the dates and do a cash room for the others.

I too would wait list as you never know when people will cancel. A little pixiedust: to help you with the wait list.

When is the F&W festival?

This year it's October 1 - November 14, 2010

I've heard the earliest it starts is Sept 25 and the latest it has started is Oct 1. Just depends on the calendar. It runs for 45 days.
(Of course, Disney could always change this pattern, but the past would indicate that 2011 F&W will likely start Sept 30, 2011).
