Ok, we leave for our very 1st trip to Disney in about 33hrs (not that I am counting....) and will be staying at the GF...

Anyways, I was wondering/looking for tips on what everyone does once they check in...

Do you confirm all your ADR'S?
Get maps or other important flyers about the day? (is there such a thing)
Do you call housekeeping to set-up times?

Ok.. so what things should I do right away to assure we have great trip?

Thanks!

I always take pictures of my room since it's the neatest when we first arrive. Then after I unpack it's off to a park!

I check my ADR's beofre I leave
When you check in you get your maps
I have never called housekeeping

We get in usally by 10:00am so we check in had to breakfast in the resort , then hit a park

was our only on site trip. The first thing we did was get the Times Guide for each park for the week and put them in my passporter. They were located at the check in desk and at the concierge desk. I would say if you have anything scheduled then confirm those things (like fishing excursion, salon, etc.) with concierge in the lobby.

We unloaded at the room, checked out the pool/food court/game room and then headed for Magic Kingdom!

Did not do anything about ADR's. Had those confirmed and also written down in the Passporter and Dh's Blackberry.

I just made absolutely sure I had my paperwork from Disney confirming our package with me. This over-attention to detail (as dh calls it) worked in our favor because if I had not had the paperwork to prove our reservation then we would have been in trouble. Our ASMo reservation had somehow become "hidden". With our paperwork in hand the front desk had to fax to a higher up, finally our reservation was "unhidden"! The hidden/uhidden are Disney words.

I would say have your paperwork on hand and not packed and plan to have a great time!

The first thing we did was take photos of the room.

The second thing was to lock our extra cash and our digital cameras in the safe, since we didnt want to take them with us.

We then made sure we had grabbed the resort map and park times from our welcome pack and set off for the MK!

Put your bags down....and head to the Magic Kingdom! There's just nothing like walking down Main Street to oficially start your vacation!:thumbsup2

This is exactly what we do, with one exception: we don't even bother with bags, since the room usually isn't ready for us yet. We walk from the car after we park, go check in, get our KTTW cards, and head to MK!

After about 3 or 4 hours in MK, we come back to the resort, and by this time the room is ready. I'll then go get our luggage and haul it to the room.

We head to the room to check it out, then head right over to MK first. With ME, our bags are in the room when we get back. Keep a copy of paperwork and we always confirm our ADR's before we go. HAVE FUN!!

The first thing we do after arriving at the BWI is check-in. We leave our bags in the car since the room is rarely ready. Then we head up to the Innkeepers Lounge and say hi to the staff. Then it is off to either MGM or Epcot for playtime. Then after playing, we head back to the resort, get the bags and head off the room before heading off to dinner:thumbsup2

We are flying in late this coming trip- our plane lands at 9pm so we won't have a chance to go to any parks. On previous trips we have gone to Downtown Disney and looked around. One thing we always do is to buy our refillable mugs first for each trip.

I usually take photos of the room. Since we will be staying DVC more then likely I'll be unloading the box we sent in advance with some food and baby supplies and puting away my order from Garden Grocer. In the background we will be listening to the Top 7 Attractions :)

We don't usually do any parks the first day. 1st thing we head down to the pool with the kids and enjoy a tropical drink in the Florida sun!:cool1: We then usually have dinner at Chef Mickey's, afterward we go for a ride on the monorail...Oh I can't wait to go back again!

We head to the Magic Kingdom, have lunch at Casey's, then it's off to Splash, Pirates, etc.

If you have the DDP - one thing someone suggested a week or so ago was to go to the food court and get a snack before you hit a park (especially if you have an ADR) to make sure your room key is activated with the DDP.

They got to the park for their first ADR and room key didn't show DDP. You can't fix it unless you back to the resort. They had to pay OOP for that ADR.

We are lucky enough to live 1 1/2hrs. away so we arrive about 8am. (we usually always start vacation on a Sunday.) Next is Check-in and if our room is not ready we check our luggage then hit the pool! Our first day is always a pool/ get to enjoy the resort day, at this time I would also hit the nearest grocery store to stock up on what I did not already bring in a cooler. (DVC member) Then after the room is ready I MUST UNPACK! TNext we get ready, head to dinner and since we are there on Sunday...EMH at the MK!!!!! I love the MK at night!

Is there any other thing to do besides!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

I've lucked out that my room has always been ready. I go to it, take a few pictures of the room and the view (or lack of view). Then I go to whichever park has something that I really want to see but didn't last time (ie. in August I hit Lights, Camera, Motors because they had a show at the right time), grabbing a bite there if there's time before the show (I stopped in the Tune In Lounge for great onion rings last time).

When I get back to the room my bags are there from ME so I unpack.

If our room is ready, we get changed and head to the pool. If the room is not ready we check our carry ons and head to MK.

This year we'll check in and then upgrade our passes to what we need, pick up our tickets to the luau and then go from there if the room is ready or not.
