What is an e-ticket ride/attraction?

I have a guide book (allegedly 2014) that refers to some rides/attractions as "e-ticket". What is that? I thought the only options these days were FP+ and that the ride/attraction was either on the FP+ list (not sure where that is) or it wasn't.

Thanks.

A reference to the WDW days of yore when different rides at MK required different paper tickets, ranging from A to E. E-ticket attractions were considered the headliners. This system was dumped before even Epcot opened.

I believe it's a term coined from the early days of Disney when seperate tickets were required for attractions and rides and they were labeled letters A-E, the E-tickets being the most desirable or 'best' rides/attractions in the park (like the tier one attractions now.) But someone can correct me if I'm wrong. :)

It's from many years ago when you where paying per attractions and e ticket where the most popular one ( you had A to E attractions, from less popular to the most popular ).

Now you only pay for admission and fast pass is included, but the terms remained anyway to specify the popularity of a ride.

Wikipedia will tell you more about it with a quick search of " e-ticket " on google.

Thanks all. I suspected as much but wanted to confirm.

Makes me doubt the rest of the info in the book. Fortunately I have the disboards!

That isn't a reason to doubt anything else in the book. They aren't trying to tell you that the ride actually takes "e tickets," it's just a commonly used term for a headliner attraction.
